Alright then, so I have a little explaining to do... Considering I vanished for months, I'm not even sure anyone who watches or follows me even cares at this point, but I'll post this anyway.
Long about Christmas I was having some issues at work with my Boss. Sometime before that I was pulled from day shift to night shift literally overnight, my hours were cut to nearly-insulting levels, and the job I enjoyed doing (the one I transferred there to do) was completely eliminated, which left me to do the same job they hire high-schoolers off the street to do. (No offense to high-schoolers, but considering I am a 5-year veteran employee with management training, I was insulted).
Needless to say, harboring such negativity can eventually have a disastrous effect on your muse. I simply quit making time to work on my story. For that, I apologize to you all. 
I have since transferred out of that store and into one full of friends and familiar faces, and am back doing the same job I enjoyed before the drama all started. My hours are back to full-time, and I'm working the morning shift Monday through Friday again. What's more is, I've also found an RP site that helped me regain my muse for fanfiction. Several of the players there are fanfiction fans, and a few are authors themselves (shoutout to TheWordsmith and Borvain Tavers. You guys ROCK! 
) Talking to them and planning out our RPs got my creative muses singing again, and I have since resumed working on Fundamentals.
In fact.... I'm waiting for the next chapter to come back from the editor now. 
So, if any of you are willing to forgive my unannounced and extended absence and still want to see what happens to Twilight, expect an update sometime fairly soon. Though I'm not making any promises as to when it will be..

Twilight frowned at the list in front of her. Summoning rabbits and birds was a trick she’d expect to see in a Las Pegasus magic act, not an “Advanced Guide to Conjuration, Teleportation, and Summoning.” Especially not one written by the greatest unicorn mage to ever live.
She turned a couple pages to look over the more advanced spells the book offered, and was immediately overwhelmed.

Well, I can't really say anything about the long, unannounced hiatus without being a hypocrite—I have been procrastinating updates on my incomplete story for about half a year now... Then again, I have written a few one-shots after that to compensate, but I digress.
Good to see the story is not completely abandoned.
Hopefully you've got the real-life issues under control now. Those are of course the first priority before any recreational fanfic writing, so I don't blame you for anything (even if I have been waiting for an update now and then).
