Story Idea.....Feed back is welcome

I have been watching a documentary by Ken Burns (one of the masters of documentary and a must watch for history nuts). The title of this documentary is The War and discusses in great length World War 2 and the American involvement is said war. And when I say "In great detail" I mean seven episodes at 140 minutes or more a piece.

While watching I got an idea for a fan fic and wanted to see if people would be interested in the concept before diving in. The fic would be a World War 2/ MLP:FIM crossover. I would eliminate some aspects of the actual event (for instance, the amount of "bad" countries) just to make things more streamlined. I would put Equestrian technology at the same level as was in the 1940's and I would take some creative liberties with the geography of Equestria so that incidents from the Western theater of the war could be properly represented.

There would be no Pacific theater since there is little talk of oceans in MLP. My ultimate goal would be to respectfully represent war in all its brutality in the setting of MLP. This would be a story likely marked as Gore and Mature (also with Dark, Sad, and Alt. Universe), because I do not plan on holding back with battle scenes as that would take away from the realness of war and what those who have experienced it have seen.

Please give me feedback on if this is something you would read and if the idea sounds feasible to any of you.
