    About My Inactivity

Deepest apologies for not posting anything in awhile, been a bit busy. Couple that with some minor writer's block and I haven't done much of anything. Still, I will try my best to get the latest chapter of To Cast the Doubt Away posted so you can enjoy it.

    Again, really sorry.

    Asking for Some Suggestions

Well... I've hit kinda of rut with Apple Bloom's Huragok Helper. A mixture of writer's block and a lack of enthusiasm for writing Halo ponies is certainly derailing the story. So, for the time being, I've put the story on Hiatus until I can kick the writer's block like a bad habit.

Possibly A New Story Coming Soon · 2:57am May 25th, 2013

So I'm working on the next chapter of OPAC, not sure when it'll be out though, I've got some things to need to be done. But that's not the point of this post, it's to gauge reaction on a new story idea I've got in the works. Here's a preview using the old tale that started it all, with a 'minor' alteration:

Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria, there were two regal sisters who ruled together, and created harmony for all the land. To do this, the eldest used her unicorn powers to raise the sun at dawn; the younger brought out the moon to begin the night. Thus, the two sisters maintained balance for their kingdom and their subjects, all the different types of ponies. But as time went on, the younger sister became resentful. The ponies relished and played in the day her elder sister brought forth, but shunned and slept through her beautiful night. Despite her hatred, the younger sibling could not imagine harming her sister in any way. Her love for her sister overpowered her hatred and so she slunk into depressed reclusion in which she forwent her duties of governing.

This, however, harmed her sister more than any physical confrontation could have. Now Equestria’s only ruler, the older sibling tried desperately to hold her nation together. Conflict between the country’s cities broke out like wildfire and often did the older sister run herself ragged trying to balance the needs of her ponies. Soon however, she began to resent the freedom she had won for them, so many years ago. She began to view it as only an invitation for her ponies to commit evil and sin. Eventually, she too fell into the thralls of resentment and disdain. What happened next, was inevitable.

Though history cannot decide on who spawned the idea, its effects made such a question mute. The royal sisters came together again to rule Equestria, but this time under a banner of tyranny. They sealed away the Elements of Harmony, the only force strong enough to defeat them. No pony alive had the ability to defeat the two sister’s combined might, and so Equestria fell easily. Rebellions would rise and quickly be snuffed out and for the next six hundred years, the nation would know only darkness and oppression carried out by the dark magic of the Princesses’.

This changed four hundred years ago, with the rise of Enduring Vitality, a simple smith from what would become Manehattan. From faraway lands he brought to the Equestrians the power of anti-magic, a technique from the Zebras that could be used by any non-magical creature to cancel out any magic, no matter how powerful. Teaching this power to his followers, Vitality led a rebellion against the Princesses. For the first time since their corruption, the sisters could not stand against the might of their ponies and found themselves slowly pushed back. All the spells and magic they relied on to keep the ponies in check failed them, and the physical might of the rebels grew with each passing week.

After five long years of civil war, the rebellion’s efforts were finally rewarded. The younger sister fell at the Battle of Canterlot Valley and her sister followed in the Battle for Canterlot, a struggle that lasted ten full months. A new government was quickly set up, ran by all the leaders of the rebellion except Vitality, who wanted nothing to do with leadership and instead continued to protect the innocents of Equestria from abusive magic. Peace has been maintained in Equestria for generations since…

This story will basically be about a world where Celestia and Luna are not in power and magic is held in mistrust. It'll follow everyone's favorite purple unicorn Twilight Sparkle as she works with an order of knights that protects against harmful magic when an extremist group of unicorns try to overthrow the government and put magic back on top. So, what do you think?
