Falling in love with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic · 1:09am Mar 25th, 2012

Hi,

My name is Summer and I would like to introduce how I became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

It all started in August of 2011 when two acquaintances of mine happened to be talking about My Little Pony fanfics. This agitated me to no end as I had long since grown out of My Little Pony and my early childhood days as a young girl. I finally spoke up with an attitude one night. "My Little Pony is gay," I remarked causing quite a stir in the chat room. "Have you even seen My Little Pony?" One of them asked me. "I thought the show was terrible wasn't it," I stated by jumping to conclusions and a hint of arrogance. They then agreed with me that the original versions were awful but the re-make was a lot better developed "Honestly, what is this about My Little Pony all of a sudden?" I asked out of curiosity. I also knew that most of my acquaintances were male. "Isn't this a show for little girls?" I stereotyped. "You have to be a real nerd to watch it," one of them responded boldly. They also informed me that the personalities of each female character was what made the show great. So I bit the bullet by asking if there were any ponies in the show who happened to be rebels. One of the fans of the show told me that the show had a very rebellious character by the name of Rainbow who had a very arrogant personality. Upon watching the show for the first time, Apple Jack's accent and personality really caught my attention. 'Wow,' I thought. This really does have some great characters. Yet, I still needed to see more of the show to make up my mind on whether it was a good fit for me.

From that moment forward, I very slowly began to like the show and the characters that went along with it, while also watching the very first season episode by episode. Whether it was Pinkie's randomness getting my attention by saying, "Cross My Heart and Hope to Fly, Stick a Cupcake in my Eye," to Rainbow Dash performing a perfect sonic rainboom, I was hooked after watching the first season. This happened to take place right before the start of season 2 aired, and Discord became an epic favorite villain. However, my craze not only caused me to watch the show but look at purchasing MLP merchandise wherever they were sold.

In October 2011 for example, I happened to be shopping for a birthday card and a possible gift for my aunt while at a Dollar General Store. It was during this time that I found several calendars for 2012 that only costed a dollar. So, I happened to browse upon my own curiosity and little did I know that I would find a My Little Pony Friendship is Magic one at a very low price. This caused me to squeal like a ditsy teenager. "Shut up, they have a My Little Pony Calendar! I am taking it."

Finally, I began coming up with my own original characters who happened to be friends on their own. Of the three characters that I had chosen, two of them were named after two songs favorite songs of mine while the other name came from a typo error that came from the auto correct on one of my friend's ipads. Thus, a really cool pony a born. Whose to say that I won't stop there either? Like most of you fellow bronies and pegasisters, I have a creative mind.

This is Summer out.
