The Conversion Bureau's One year Anniversary post · 1:42pm Mar 24th, 2012
Everyone else is doing one, so I might as well tell my introduction to the Conversion Bureau. I don't get any medals for being the 4th or 5th person to join this sub genre, so this will be for fun.
Once upon a year ago, an odd little fic hit EqD that filled me to the brim with contempt. I'll save you the suspense and tell you that it was the original Conversion Bureau written by Blaze. It filled me with such hate, that I felt the need to counter it somehow. On Ponychan, I found a small thread that had been started by Pride (or Midnight. One of those two), and they were discussing and expanding on the Conversion Bureau Universe.
And so, in a blind spite fueled session of writing, I wrote the first part of Yellowstone. My intent was to create a TCB fic that I thought was fun.
Was it childish? Yes. Was it well written and thought out? No. Were the characters walking tropes? Oh yeah. Did I have any idea what I was doing? Nope. Did I have fun slapping the original concept in the face so we can all have an optimistic TCB story for once? Definitely.
For some reason, people liked it. Some actually wanted more. This led to the hasty conception of Yellowstone the Series, but I'm not going to get into that.
So that's my origin story on this here pony fandom, and you know, I kinda like it around here. Now a year later, there's more than just Midnight, Windchaser, Krass, and myself. There's, like, 17 of us. And that's pretty cool.
Anyway, I think this is a good place to stop rambling. To everyone who helped make this sub genre come out of the back alleys of the fandom into the main street, I say thank you. To everyone who reads my writings and finds enjoyment in them, I say thank you. To everyone who thinks Midnight being British is funny for some unknown reason, I say yeah me too. To everyone who says Applejack isn't their favorite pony, I say that's just, like, your opinion man. To everyone who thinks that I should stop, I say it stops here and goes no farther.
So...right. Have a good next year everyone.

Any year you want man. Past, present, future. Any are valid. The majority take place in the future (Often dystopian) where human progress has given them Mass Effect level technology minus the space ships.
It is always nice to see where your favourite writers are coming from. Though it is kind of a lame origin story (think more "Batman" and less "lurking on the Internet") I must say it somehow feels... fitting. We are, as a fandom, ordinary people. There is the odd Doctor or Pilot among us, but mainly, we are average people. And it feels comforting to know that this magnificent writing is coming from ordinary people, too.
So have a nice week and enjoy some great sex in the foreseeable future. If I can somehow visit you it may very well be with me.
