oh no site change fire and brimstone everything sucks (title also relevant to writing news) · 3:26pm Mar 16th, 2013
Actually, it doesn't. Pretty aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. I guess the only thing I'd change would be an option to view the web version of the site on mobile devices, since I still prefer this version to the admittedly improved mobile version.
Your Beutifull is coming along nicely, but by the looks of it, this may be a shorter chapter than the previous ones. This brings a question to mind: what chapter length is the most appealing to you? I normally try and put my main chapters between 3 and 5k words, but I've seen many stories that choose to have much longer chapters.
On a side note, I'm also working on a short oneshot to drop in the near future. It's about Rainbow Dash and the end of the world.
It can really depend on how far along a person's gotten in a story and how much of the story should take place in a particular chapter. But, all in all, you should never go beyond 10,000 words a chapter. If it's in the middle of the story, anywhere from 4k to 9k words could really do it. Unless it's a kind of filler chapter, that does pertain to the story, yet you kinda use to fill up space and transition.
i don't think you can really answer the chapter length question. it just depends on the story. BackgroundPony has chapters up to 40k words, but i didn't mind it, in fact, i really dislike the idea of splitting them, because every chapter kind of tells his own completed story.
if you consider your story as more of one big piece and you split it into chapters just for the sake of having chapters, i guess about 5k words would be ideal. but that's just a personal opinion.
