So excited to be here/How I became a pegasister · 4:46am Mar 13th, 2012

I just joined up, and now it seems that the possibilities are endless.
At first, I thought that I would post stories on to FF.net, but I was hoping to come across a more Pony-centric community. With that accomplished, I feel all kinds of ideas coming on, but I'm not sure if I should run with any of them; I thought, maybe I could do a blog entirely off of my adventures and daily life but with an Equestrian spin, but I mean, thousands of others have probably already done that. Any idea is worth considering, I suppose. I think that for now, I'll just post whatever comes to mind, and maybe figure out something after that.
Moving on; I became a pegasister last fall, after I returned from staying with some relatives in another state. One of my friends (a brony who'll be known by the name of Floppy Disk) invited me to hang out with him, and soon enough, we turned to the internet for entertainment.
"Quiet, do you know about My Little Pony?"
This happened to come straight out of the blue, but of course the answer was yes; I had known of the franchise's existence since I was a little girl, but even then I scoffed at it, because "it's too cutesy, and besides, they aren't cool like real horses."
Undeterred, Disk told me about it's revival, and how it had amassed an enormous fan base that mostly consisted of grown men.
Like many neigh-sayers before and after me, I laughed, because after all, we're talking about pastel colored ponies with names cute enough to cause a heart attack. Also, we are both eighteen; legal adults! Granted, we don't garner much respect, but something geared towards 5 year-old girls wasn't going to help any.
After he left, it kept bothering me. I felt bad for rejecting it right then and there, because I knew that I had acted out on my own prejudice. I hadn't actually seen any of the new series yet, and so I thought, "I can't say anything of real value until I actually see it. Then I can make a real opinion."
So it happened that one day, when everyone else was out, that I stumbled upon "Feeling Pinkie keen" while I was channel surfing. I thought, "Now is the chance for me to settle this."
And you know what? I heard the theme song and laughed. I mean, how was this supposed to change my opinion? And then, it really started...and by the time it was done, I found myself intrigued. It hadn't completely turned my opinion around, but it fascinated me enough that I felt that further research was needed. Thus, I felt that I had to start from the beginning.
When Floppy Disk came around my house a couple of days later, I told him that I wanted to watch the first episode with him, and he happily gave in. After it finished, I found myself relieved that there was a second part...and when that was done, I felt something that I hadn't felt for a long while about a cartoon. I felt awed and enthralled, and it was then that I wanted more.
I joined the herd, and shortly after, I managed to convert my little brother as well.
And now (if anyone has actually read this), I would really like to know how you became a brony/pegasister. Please, don't be shy! I am genuinely interested.
