Finding Harmony- Chapter VIII Commentary · 1:42am Jan 4th, 2013
Well this took forever to write, and it's really short too, my shortest to date and it will probably end up being the shortest in the entire story. I admit, it was partly because of various distractions that came in the form of Pottermore, Amnesia and Kugelmugel. Trust me, they're worth-while distractions. But I digress.
The fact is that Baroque, although he's probably gonna be awesome, doesn't have a very interesting opening life, all things considering. He's not prone to blowing craters in the ground or seeing things, and is actually to utterly normal that I couldn't really thing of anything to say about him. I wanted to mainly focus on his relationship with Contrabasse, because it's an important part of the story. As of this moment, he's the only character who has some kind of drive, excluding of course the drive of "Oh sweet Celestia and Luna the world is crashing in around us, save it or we're all gonna die" which the other characters have. Contrabasse is a minor character, but nevertheless important. She's probably what's going to end up keeping Baroque going, love is cute.
You may have noticed, Baroque and Contrabasse are both musicians. The word Baroque is a style of classical music that was popular from around 1600 to around 1750 if I'm not mistaken, and was popular in Europe. It's a very complicated and intricate style of music, and I've always thought it was very elegant and proud, which is really ironic and I like it. Contrabasse is a little less in depth, considering the only thing that's special about it is that it means double bass in French. I didn't want to call her Double Bass because that's neither effeminate or very pony like, so i decided translating it into French would be more, I dunno, feminine. There's logic behind that, but it's full of stereotypes and not entirely sound. I was right though, and so Contrabasse it was.
I'm sorry nothing really happened in this chapter, I just wanted to introduce Baroque, and how he was so very different from everyone else in the story. There's reasons for that. Onwards to Chapter IX!
