Delving back into when I was younger, I picked up the first book I ever fell in love with, Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone, memories of getting my dad to read this amazing book to me came flooding back and as I read, I notice something in particular, before I get into it though I wish to say that I've been told I use said too much in my first chapter, which is fine, I'll admit I have a bit but, as I read, I noticed I wasn't the only one, quite often especially when McGonagall and Dumbledore are talking to each other outside the Dursley's house, Rowling uses the word 'Said' frequently, only interjecting it at small moments, E.G repeated, whispered and faltered, and they were only used once on three pages.

So, I say this to people who feel they have to use different word's to explain someone talking, you don't because one of the best books going didn't, even if it would make it more interesting, as long as you have the plot, the basis of it all and have something that the reader will want to keep reading, then you don't need to concentrate on it, it's a minor detail in the grand design as I would say.
