    Hey everypony

Just thought I'd let you know that, in light of Twilicorngate, 'Full Circle' will officially take place between 'Keep Calm & Flutter On' and 'Just For Sidekicks'. After all, who actually knows how much time took place between those two episodes? Anyone? Anyone? Didn't think so.

Heavy Metal in Equestria · 2:25am Jan 2nd, 2013

Good news, everypony! I have finished Part 7 of 'Full Circle', and am waiting for my editor to work her magic on it.

At any rate, I'm sure some of you are wondering how I look at what heavy metal is like in Equestria. I think in many ways, it's not that different from how it is in our world, at least sonically. However, since Equestria is rather idyllic overall, there's not so much of a rebellious overtone to the lyrics. Also, I doubt that there would be that many bands, and certainly there wouldn't be any subgenres like there are here. In other words, bands like Mötley Crüe, Ratt and W.A.S.P. wouldn't be considered any more or less "metal" than bands like Morbid Angel, Emperor, or Cannibal Corpse. Of course, there would be the same variety of styles, but they wouldn't be separated into subgenres like glam, thrash, classic, power, death, or black metal like they are here. It would probably come as no surprise to anyone that Maneowar consider themselves the "kings" of the genre, though.

So if bands weren't rebellious, what would they sing about? Of course, the young would rebel against their more immediate authority figures such as parents, teachers, etc., much like humans are growing up. Also, I'm sure bands in Equestria sing about partying and carousing with mares! Furthermore, it's well known that bands use dark symbolism to scare people, and I don't think Equestrian bands would be any different. In fact, there's no shortage of dark beings for them to use, such as Discord, King Sombra, or any multitude of creatures from Tartaros. As I've established in 'Full Circle', Alicorn Malign's dark being of choice is, of course, Nightmare Moon.

I hope my musings help out any pony-fic writers who are thinking of incorporating heavy metal in their stories. In fact, if you get a kick out of any of the bands I've mentioned, like Marebid Angel, Mercyfilly Fate or Iron Mare, and some others I've come up with and plan on mentioning, such as Motörhoof, Mötley Cölt, Black Veil Bridles, or Maneowar, feel free to use them! Plus, feel free to come up with new ones in the comments! If I dig them, I'll probably use them in 'Full Circle'!

Anyhoo, stay metal, and keep your eyes peeled for Part 7!
