A Review of Hazbin Hotel and update on upcoming updates · 7:31pm January 19th
So, I haven't posted anything yet this year (that I can recall doing), and I plan on doing so soon. I've been working on A Taste Of Her Own Medicine, and am happy to say I have almost finished the whole story. That said, I will be working on getting another chapter out for that, as well as the next one for Fitting In Is Hard To Do. My other stories will follow, but likely won't get new chapters until February.
Now... for the main reason of my blog entry.
My review of Hazbin Hotel on Amazon Prime!
For those not in the know, Hazbin Hotel is an adult animated series created by indie animator Vivienne Medrano, known to many as Vivziepop. A project she spent years working and funded through her Patreon, it first appeared as a pilot in October 2019 on YouTube, and became a viral hit, earning millions of views in very short time. Less than a year later, production company A24 picked up the series, and spent three years developing the show.
Hazbin Hotel follows Charlie, the daughter of Lucifer and Lilith, the two highest demons of hell, and her efforts to end an annual extermination of damned souls to keep Hell's population in check. These efforts manifest themselves into a hotel/rehabilitation center, where sinners go to redeem themselves for their past sins in order to "check out" and move on up to heaven. Naturally, no one in hell thinks she has a snowball's chance, but Charlie has found a small measure of success, having recruited an overlord of hell named Alastor to help manage the hotel (though he does so because he finds the premise of her idea comical and thinks watching sinners try and fail to redeem will be highly entertaining for him), and a first client in a sinner named Angel Dust (though he is only pretending so he can stay in the hotel for free). Alongside these two is Charlie's girlfriend Vagatha, aka Baggie, who supports her ideas fully.
Now for the review:
Three thumbs up! Two of my own and one from the corpse of an exterminated sinner.
The show is well animated, has great characters who we learn a good deal about as the show goes on, humor that is quite enjoyable (if dark and sexual is your thing), and the music...
Oh, the music!
With a cast of Broadway performers, the show's music is on point, and will have you bopping and singing along (once you learn the words).
If you have Amazon Prime, this show is definitely worth checking out. I look forward to the next episodes coming out next month, as well as the second season currently in development. I just hope it doesn't end up in "development hell".
So, in short, I liked Hazbin Hotel and think you should check it out, and I hope to have some new chapters for all of you soon.
While updates on future seasons vacation rental, I can assure you, Hazbin Hotel is a wickedly entertaining ride. So, grab your popcorn, dim the lights, and prepare for a unique blend of humor, heart, and hellfire! Trust me, you'll be singing along in no time.
