In star-date 58759.2 and Boimler almost died, yesterday! Along Dawnday, the 24th of Harvestide month, 1,001st year of harmony era, Spike also almost died when he hit his head on a boulder. When both met the Koala, both were transported to each others' places as one discovers a new planet and the other discovers a whole galaxy.
But that isn't the theme.
The themes are how Tendi would do her best to examine and take care of Spike, Mariner would taunt and tease him, Ruthorford just vibes, and T'Lyn observes everything while taking notes. Spike would wonder why "everypony" is sitting up right like he is, Tendi would replicate a lolipop after his first examine with T'ana, and speaking of replicators... "One ge- no, twelve donuts. And sprinkled with gems!"
(When Spike brings up the koala, Tendi would shove a muffin in his throat. He'd enjoy that and forget about mentioning it)
Meanwhile, Boimler takes frequent notes (on scrolls with ink) of the new planet he finds himself in while realizing how nice it felt to not be bossed and teased around. He'd enjoy Equestria as a sort of vacation as everything slows down. He'd get along with Applejack swimmingly as his vineyard experience would help him work at the farm while also being able to fix her tractor thanks to his year in engineering.
Rarity would, enviably, have deep interest in Star Fleet uniforms and how they evolved over the years. She'd be positively over joyed to hear about the bold Captain Janeway.
I don't know how long this would be, like either a 5kw-minimum short or a whole set of chapters, but either way this has a lot of potential and I need to put this somewhere to come back to it.
