North Korea continued its dominance at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games with two more gold medals in artistic gymnastics.

Ahn Chang-ok, 20, won gold in both the women's vault and uneven bars finals at the Huanglong Sports Center Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China, on Monday.

The North Korean athlete scored an average of 14.049 on vault and 14.266 on uneven bars in the first and second periods.

North Korea's other athlete, Kim Sun Hyang, scored 13.600 on vault to give the DPRK the gold and silver medals in the event.

Ahn Chang-ok had previously shared bronze with her teammates in the women's artistic gymnastics team final on Sept. 25.

North Korea broke its gold medal drought on Sunday with a gold in the women's 10-meter running target team event and two more in artistic gymnastics.

The North Korean gymnasts competed in a much brighter mood than their counterparts in other events, with confidence in their performance and the news of their first gold medal in women's shooting just moments earlier.

Kim Sun-hyang, who competed first on vault, smiled and gave a thumbs-up to the camera after her performance and joined hands with the other athletes next to her.

Ahn Chang-ok also beamed as she received a high score, seemingly anticipating a gold medal, and her coach gave her a hug and encouragement.

When the gold medal was clinched on the uneven bars, she beamed and shared her joy with her teammates.

On both occasions, Ahn stood on the first place podium and gave a behemoth salute during the North Korean national anthem, unlike the other athletes next to her.

For his first-place photo on vault, he and Kim unfurled a large artificial flag and posed for a photo.

Six or seven North Korean athletes were in the stands early, waving flags and cheering loudly for the athletes.

However, North Korean athletes in the joint press area (mix zone) were almost running and avoiding questions.

Ahn Chang-ok, who was born in 2003 and competed in her first Asian Games, is seen as the "future" of North Korean women's artistic gymnastics. She was ranked between 10th and 20th on the international stage when she first competed in 2019, but this event proved she is one of the best in Asia.

The crowd erupted in applause as she performed one difficult skill after another in both events.

North Korea has traditionally been strong in artistic gymnastics, most notably with gymnastics hero Ri Se Kwang, who is known as the "God of Vault. Ri has been recognized for his contributions in North Korea, receiving the titles of "People's Athlete" and "Hero of Hard Work for his contributions.

A member of the North Korean national team since 2003, Ri won gold on vault at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, followed by back-to-back titles on vault at the 2014 World Gymnastics Championships in Nanning, China, and 2015 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Ri became the third North Korean gymnast to win an Olympic gold medal with a dominant performance in the vault final.

Ri's difficult vault, in which she spins twice in the air while holding the vault on her side, then twists and lands once, is now part of the International Gymnastics Federation's vault scoring rulebook.

Not to be left out is North Korea's "gymnastics fairy," Hong Eun-jeong.

She won gold on vault at the 2008 Beijing Olympics before winning the same event at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. 토토사이트
