The first lines of the next chapter

I've been really excited because we are approaching the end of every individual mane 6's story! Even if this may not have been my most successful story stats-wise, it's the one I've enjoyed writing the most. I'm so happy with the current result, and I hope I won't disappoint! Next chapter, we're back in the universe Rainbow Dash's landed in, and as a small tease, here are the first few lines of

    Catchphrase

Suddenly wanted to talk about it, but I know someone who uses a catchphrase in real life. Like, every time he writes something, he puts his catchphrase at the end. Am I the only one who thinks it's absolutely based?

    Next Story

I've got 2 stories I have to finish, but I was thinking of doing a murder mystery after they're done. It would be pretty gory, though. Also not sure yet if I'll do it, but I got some nice ideas.

My opinion on this story · 2:25pm Jul 19th, 2023

The story: Then Tomorrow Came

I just wanted to write a small blog post (for whoever may be interested) about one of my favorite stories on this website, and believe me, I don't have a lot of stories in my favorites (only 35 for now). I've been wanting to write "reviews" for quite some time. It's not really a serious review, I'll be totally subjective here, and everything I say is nothing but my opinion.

One of the reasons I am clarifying this is that this story (and most of all its sequel) is a bit... controversial. Not because it has a ton of dislikes or something (and it doesn't anyway), but because of the story's subject (I didn't read all the replies, but I know there were a lot of debates in the comment section). I also wanted to point out that the story has 666 likes and comments as I'm writing this. It's funny.

Anyway, Then Tomorrow Came is a Twidash story, so that already explains why I read it in the first place. It's not a recent read, so I don't exactly remember if anything else in the story summary caught my eye the first time. I was aware that it wouldn't be the typical happy Twidash with little drama since we are warned about that in the story summary, but I was still expecting a happy ending.

You can consider it happy, maybe? It depends on the person. But basically, Twilight uses a spell at the end to make or at least push Rainbow Dash fall in love with her. The story and its sequel go in more details about the process, but that's the gist of it.

That is, actually, one of the reasons I like the story. And no, it's not because I think that's something morally right or anything (at the end of the day, this is fictional), but because it was different from the Twidash stories I've read until that point.

Usually, either Twilight or Rainbow Dash will confess, then the other will accept. Or reject them, but they'll fall in love after some drama. That's something even I did in some of my stories. It's not bad, but I understand some may get tired of it.

The difference here is that Twilight actually gets rejected and there's no grand adventure or drama that makes Rainbow Dash change her mind or fall in love with her. Rainbow plainly rejects her and I think I can safely say that Twilight is in pure agony (mentally) because of it.

The story wouldn't work as well if Twilight wasn't the way she was in it. I like the way she doesn't accept love, or is in denial, because she doesn't see it as something rational or logical. Of course, that's also something that's present in other stories, but it's really turned up to 11 here in my opinion. Even the way she goes about imagining herself with Rainbow Dash is based on logic (thinking of her compatibility with her and how they were made for each other even if we know life isn't that simple). The showcased obsession she has for Rainbow Dash is handled well, and I found it entertaining. That's mostly because I thought that playing with Twilight's obsession with things or the way she can get crazy can lead to either comedic scenes or even more drama.

I have a weird toxic relationship with the drama genre. It hurts me, but I can't help but like it. Obviously, Twilight isn't like the one we know, I wouldn't say she is a good pony, but she could have been way worse, too. Rainbow Dash and Applejack date at the start of this story, but they break up later on. And Twilight had nothing to do with that since they broke up on their own. I like that she still respects her friends and thinks about how it would affect Rainbow Dash (even if we hear her thoughts about wanting to murder Applejack, which are disturbing but a good way to show what Twilight would be ready to do, but that she still thinks rationally, at least partially rationally).

Also I can't say much about the realism of her thought process since I never really fell in love, but considering what happens in the real world, I am willing to bet they are realistic. Obviously, I'm sure most people don't think that way, but I'm sure some do. Again, that's different from the usual drama I've read where Twilight, Rainbow Dash, or any other pony, really, just stays at home and feel sorry for themselves. That's a realistic reaction, too, but it feels refreshing to see something different (in my opinion).

Twilight also has a lot of conflicting thoughts in the story. I don't remember if it's explicitly said or not, but I interpreted it as being her conscious. It was interesting to see her being conflicted about her actions and her fantasies, but I also think it's a good way to show that she isn't evil. Maybe a bad moral compass, but not full-on evil.

So, those are my thoughts! I really love it. I love the sequel, maybe I'll make a blog post about it too, one day. If you haven't read it, and love Twidash, you should give it a read. Unless you don't like shipping stories with a darker turn.

I'm not good with rating stories, so I can't really rate it. But know that if I favorited a story, then it's probably at the very least an 8/10 (in my opinion of course).
