Greetings, folks! This is Mr. J back with another movie review for today! This afternoon, I will be reviewing “Aliens” from 1986! To be honest, I had a lot more fun with this movie than with the first one as it is a lot more action-packed and more thrilling. Not only did it expand the universe of the Xenomorphs, it also added a more threatening nature to them.

And it makes sense James Cameron would put so much action in this movie as we have already seen what the alien can do to its victims and how scary it is. Thus, adding the same slow-paced, suspenseful horror effect would’ve been pointless and repetitive. So here’s why I consider this to be the best movie of the franchise:

After surviving her first encounter with the alien, Ripley seeks to return back to course. However, she loses contact with her crew back on the moon where they first saw other aliens. So she accepts help from Colonial Marines to investigate what’s going on.

I really enjoyed the story, and the way it was written. It carries the spirit of the previous movie, but it takes the story in a more adventurous manner which leaves no room for any dull moments. Plus, it leaves no room for comfort in light of the fact that there is now more than one Xenomorph to deal with.

The acting was just as good as well. Sigourney Weaver didn’t lose her touch as Ripley, and most of the supporting cast did a terrific job with their respective roles. It was awesome they brought in Michael Biehn, Bill Paxton, and Lance Henriksen. With these guys, the movie will certainly become a rollercoaster ride as they’ve had their fun with the Terminator.

The Xenomorphs were even more threatening in this movie because they now have strength in numbers and can feel like they just never die off as long as there are so many of them. But of course, Xenomorph Queens exist as well. Seeing that queen destroy everything in her path was just something else…for lack of a better word.

The only nitpicks I found annoying were two things: 1), we have a human antagonist who is thrilled with the aliens and will do anything to keep them alive at the expense of human lives. The problem is that he was so stupid to think that a Xenomorph would spare him simply because…he wasn’t attacking it?? Just a dumb idiot. 2). The movie had some predictable moments that felt kinda unnecessary.

But I really liked Hicks, Bishop, and Newt. Besides Ripley, they are my favorite characters in this whole movie. The way they worked together and had such a dynamic experience in facing off Xenomorphs was just so awesome to watch. Surely, nothing terrible will happen to them later on…right?

But overall, I love this movie, and it deserves a solid 10/10! And this is where the story ends for me. No one will tell me otherwise.

Peace!
