anniversary not worth celebrating · 4:27pm Apr 24th, 2023
I don't discuss my personal life once, but today marks an event that happened to me twenty years ago.
I share this because it's an event that shouldn't be forgotten.
As much as there are those who will cry out about guns, I do not hold the guns accountable. This could've been a knife attack or a bombing and it wouldn't have made a difference.
It's about violence.
The biggest problem is violence in general.
Yes, there are things that can be done to keep bad people from getting a hold of weapons, but the divine creator gifted us with the most powerful weapon of them all - the mind, and that is a weapon that we cannot regulate or ban people from having altogether.
As was once said, where there is a will, there is a way. If someone wishes to be violent, they will find a way to be violent.
That is why I agree most with the assessment that we need to normalize the accessing of mental health services to the point where seeing a psychiatrist or psychologist is the same as an annual physical, and is covered as such by ALL health insurance providers.
I know this was rather ranty for my usual posts, but this is something I feel quite strongly about and felt I needed to share, especially today.
And please, no negativity. You may not like the stances I choose to take, but we can all agree that violence as a whole needs to stop.
