Is it wrong to want people to write stories about your story?

I have a project in the works that is a series of stories each focusing on one or two out of a stated 100 characters. I'm only planning on writing stories for a handful of these characters, and leaving the vast majority of them unknown. What I'm hoping will happen is people read these stories and feel motivated to write their own stories set in this universe, sort of like two of the stories that inspired this one, Your Human and You, and Four Score.

It feels like I'm just a new writer (which I am in the perspective of this site) hoping he becomes big enough to deserve a following. Maybe when I post it people like it enough right off the bat, maybe they don't and it takes a while to happen.
