My 72-year-old grandmother was diagnosed with cancer in the nerves of her lumbar spine as well as the bones of the cervical spine, the latter of which is inoperable. For those who do not know, the cervical spine is the spine between the shoulder blades and the base of the skull. The cancer cells within her lumbar spine, her lower back, could be treated with radiation.
