Throughout the series, we can see that ponies can have pets like us. We know Celestia has a Phoenix, Twilight has an owl, Rarity has a cat, Applejack has a dog, Pinkie has an alligator and Fluttershy owns a rabbit. So, in the episode, May the Best Pet Win, we learn how Rainbow got her pet. Did she make a good choice for herself? One way to find out.

Rainbow Dash, seeing her friends having fun with their pets, feels left out and decides to get a pet herself. Fluttershy, happy to hear this, shows Rainbow a bunch of animals to pick from, but can’t find one to fit her coolness, quickness and awesomeness. So, she puts most of the candidates in a talent show and a race to see which one wins, only to find that her ideal pet is who she had little thought with at the start.

Now, who didn’t act like Rainbow Dash when looking for a pet. While we didn’t think like her with her ideas on what a pet should be, we know that sometimes the first choice is not the best and that the one you least expected might be the best pick. I won’t give away the winner here, but if you saw the different animals Dash looked over, it would be easy to see who was the best choice for her. I won’t give away the ending, but while we know how the story goes, we do see how each pet might have a chance to be with Rainbow.

The talent show and the race are some of the best parts of the episode. Not only do we see each animal do their own skill they’re able to do, but we can see how Rainbow looks at them and how she thinks a pet should be, only to realize that a pet is one you care for and will stick with you throughout your life. The song is pretty good as Fluttershy explains each animal to Rainbow, only for the blue pony to say no thinking they’re not what she wants.

In the end, this was a fun episode. Not only do we see how Rainbow learns about what having a pet really means, but also understand how one can relate to the blue pony on a pet can even be your best friend. If you’re a Rainbow fan and like anything with animals, you will like this. Speaking of which, the next episode also stars Rainbow. What happens to her there? We’ll find out next time.
