Everyone knows that Spike is an orphan since G1, but what most don't know is that Spike wasn't an only child in G1 and they also don't know that Spike still had living family. You see in the G1 toy line Spike was just one of seven baby dragons sold in the toy lines, the six others were Fiery, Smokey, Flash, Prickles, Sparks, and Spiny. These dragons were just recolors of Spike, and they were each sold with one of the princess ponies. Spike himself was part of the big play set as well as the pony queen, the unicorn Majesty.

While they never got into the G1 show theses dragons make into the comics, where they were still just recolors of Spike, even having is personality in the comics. However they did say Spike was the oldest of these pet dragons, yes they were the pets of the ponies they were sold with and were called the princess's pet dragons. Now they were never said to be brothers but comics acted like they were. and comics also give them some other family members. Spike's great-great-grandfather, and Spike's great-grandfather were these family members who were never name as they were always called just that. Also in the comics these dragons could cast spells, Spike did so once and Great-Great would often cast spells off panel. I would also like to point out that Spike had what could best be call an adopted brother, Majesty created an earth pony Colt name Lucky as a gift for Spike on his birthday.
