The Diamond Dogs wanted plunder. Pure and simple.

Another fight was brewing. Tensions were high. One single spark could ignite the powder keg and plunge the continent back into war and winter.

That spark happend in spring, during the first year of the new war.

So basically from your story this is what the battles are going to be like mostly.
Zebras and Saddle Araibains fight become arch enemy's. Griffin versus Equestria. Changling versus everyone. Diamond Dogs hired guns.
