The Battle For Ponyville: 20:44
So this was what the bitch used to defeat me earlier today.
It’s an interesting device, a mass of antennas and arrays which supposedly generate the anti-magic field which utterly shut down my army and suppressed my superweapon.
Until we regrouped, switched to reactive shells and shot them all.
Well, most of them anyway. I don’t know where most of the Elements have gone but there’s pockets of resistance all over the battlefield. Fragmented divisions of Guard and Watch being mopped up all over the place.
Once we could use the Superweapon again the battle didn’t take long to turn into a bloodbath.
It felt really good to get revenge for that rout earlier this afternoon.
So we’re here and the instrument of that defeat is finally in my possession.
With this, I could walk into Canterlot and probably pimp slap the Princesses for hours.
So damn tempting.
Of course I’d need to figure out how it works first. Given Sparkle’s predilection for documentation though, that shouldn’t be too hard.
The ability to suppress all magic. No wonder she had been reluctant to use it. The ultimate double edged sword for a pony.
I wonder if I could reduce and or focus the field shape?
“Master?”
“Yes?”
“We’re ready to ship the package.”
“Excellent. Pack this up too and add it to the same security train.”
“As you command Master.”
“On second thought, make a second security train for this.”
“By your command Master.”
“Also get the commanders together. I need to go over the plan for storming Canterlot.”
“You don’t intend to use the anti-magic field?”
“Of course I do, but I’d always planned to use an army to do it, so it’s best to keep all the strings to your bow, rather than sacrifice any needlessly.”
“You are wise My Master.”
“Naturally.”
Overlord Rule No:89 After I capture the hero's superweapon, I will not immediately disband my legions and relax my guard because I believe whoever holds the weapon is unstoppable. After all, the hero held the weapon and I took it from him.
There is no kill like overkill. You can never have enough overkill.
Why hold yourself back when you go all out, all the time, and with minimal losses thanks to common sense?

There is no such thing as overkill.
There is only "Open Fire" and "I need to reload".
If you don't know how a super weapon works, send it for study. Obviously the Overlord will have to wait a while before researching the weapon. He has other issues on hoof at the moment.
7106444 Which Maxim was that? Number 24? Those maxims are always useful.
7106458 It's not like he doesn't have other options, if he can't, or rather if his scientists can't, figure out how it works, he can go for his original plan of using his army.
Wait, how did he overcome this thing? Reactive shells? What does that mean?
I don't know if I said it already, and this a great little thing to read, but it's horribly vague. A good story makes you feel like you could be there experiencing it. This story doesn't do that.
7106590 Chemical propellant aka gunpowder bullets and there was another rule chronologically before this where he said so
7106590 This is more of a story that you need to piece together from the snippets of 'recordings and logs' like some games do.
It's a little surprising how many of these rules are simple common sense. Though, common sense has become more of a rarity these days. Looking forward to more.
Keep up the good work. Deus tecum.
7106859 Do you mean to say that common sense has turned into a white unicorn with a curled purple mane and tail?
I would be okay with that.
Wait, that 'hero's superweapon' he has... is it the same thing he was reading the instruction manual about in rule 57?
7106992 As fun as that would be, I think the show already made that joke. Most unfortunate, especially since the timing could've been a lot better.
7106590 explode on contact explosions
7106444 Never nuff dakka. EVAR.
7106424 Wait until you go to plaid!
Never use a hero's superweapon. For anything. Ever.
Ship it somewhere which is not near any of your usual locations, have it analyzed by people who are not your irreplaceable top-level scientists and technicians, use the analysis to build prototypes from scratch in a third set of locations, and have a lot of paranoid people investigate whether the use of the principles behind it could interact in unexpected ways with other things, including other variations of the weapon.
Then build a version which has multiple emergency shutoffs in case the heroes know of a way to remotely destabilize/detonate/control/affect anything using the superweapon's principles.
Then do not use it on difficult targets or in the final showdown, just in case. However, feel free to use it on low-value targets to mop up quickly - it will both advance your agenda, let the heroes know that you have their technology and, if they have any counter-weapon, make them spend time and resources setting up a trap with it that you will never spring.
You may also want to construct fake versions of your new superweapon to roll into trap situations and at the final showdown. If the heroes have no counter, they are more likely to flee, be extremely disheartened, or at least try to send spies/saboteurs to disable the fake weapons. If they believe they do have a counterweapon, or at least sufficient defenses, you can take advantage of that disinformation to hit them with something they're not prepared for, and then examine their counterweapon/defenses afterwards to see what they thought would work against their original superweapon.

Uhh.
You know, I don't think anyone will ever read this after it's completed unless they have a way to read it by update schedule instead...
If I read any more chapters, I'm going to have a logic overload. You know, from too much common sense.
7110980 He meant this one.
That's the one you're using on low-value targets.
7106424
Yeah, that'd be crazy. Like some psycho claiming he discovered enuff dakka. Et jus' ain't wroit.
