Holy crap in all its possible meanings...
If Rarity doesn't unleash Hell like it has never been witnessed before on those... those xenophobic criminal pieces of shit, I... I... well, I have no idea what I will do, because DAMN , I want to see their heads caved in. You did the mooks this chapter, now make sure the masterminds get a taste of a cruel and unusual weather effect.
(I was on the edge of my seat for the better part of this chapter and every five minutes I was praying for the triumphant beatdown.)
Just three of them. Just three of the herd was all it took to take down this criminal group. Rarity hasn't even joined the fight yet. Who knows if the SWAT outside are doing anything yet.
And yet in the darkness is the deadliest member of their herd. Don't go alone into the dark with him. You won't come out.
Crapola...Honeydew may have just done more damage than she could have ever hoped...
Still, Dash/Fluttershy has a Displacer Beast animal friend, badass.
DAMN YOU CLIFF HANGERS! Now I must wait for another awesome chapter!!!!
Interesting to see some things that would seem so long forgotten come back in all sorts of ways.
Not sure how I feel about even more fey involvement here though, but that discussion is for neither here nor there.
The clock is ticking now, can friendship really be magic?
Wow. That chapter was totally worth the wait. Thanks for using some of the names I suggested. I miss contributing to this story. For a while now you guys have been doing so good there hasn't been much for me to comment. But now I have a few questions for the Swapped so I'll take it over there.
The action scenes were extremely cool, but now I need to ask you… why?
Why haven't the Royal Guards charged in yet to provide backup to Twilight's counter ambush?
The most logical modus-operandi would have been to charge in as soon as the building became noisy, and bringing down the rock golem should have been as noisy as all the heck.
Other than that, just a little mistake: if I remember correctly, the blob incident supposedly happened just a couple months ago, story-wise.
OOOOOHHHHH FUUUUUUCK!!!
why was that so awesome!?!?
Killing madness? Good! Aim it to sicklefins, vent some stress, bath in their blood and calm down, and then Twilight will be able to answer your questions.
So now we wait on the cliff hanger where Twilight decides if she should give up and use the Soul Spell or try to tough out Dash's hysteria
Tell her Luna was training her in her sleep!!!
That cliffhanger...

And fluttershy has a freaking displacer beast in her garden!?
...
Headcannon approved!?

We had seen it once, like a gazzillion chapters ago. And I don't quite remember, but I think it actually lives in the gorge.
Pony violence in abundance! I enjoyed this chapter, and like WiseFireCracker, was waiting for the sudden change in tide that would result in victory.
So now we just have to find out what killed Scrounger.
On a final note, this chapter was so good I stayed up until 4 in the morning so I could finish it.
Man they getting their buts kicked.
4953220 So now we just have to find out what killed Scrounger.
It was Lero's alter-ego The Lost as far as I can tell; (See side story Over the Hedge.)
Not sure exactly what I should be feeling as some members of the Sicklefin Gang are being butchered, as they are being depicted in their final moments as mourning one of their loved ones, which makes their characters feel a bit more grey in my opinion.
I know this is probably a unpopular opinion but this whole chapter was kinda boring. The whole honeydew goes crazy and somehow finds sociopathic criminals that SOMEHOW are able to hold their own against the 2 epic level spellcasters in the form of ALICORN GODDESS Twilight and GRANDMASTER Lyra, who was previously called one of the most dangerous ponies in equestria short of the princesses, and that the moment that Twilight sent a message says 'psychopaths kidnapped Lero with intention of torturing and murdering him" that Celestia didn't just use her GODDESS level power to teleport there and solve the problem or Luna, which we found out from the blank plague used to torture ponies who she thought were evil, is all absurd. There is no weight to this conflict because not only does it make literally no sense that it is happening but all the protagonists are insanely weak and stupid for some reason and can't beat down random thugs.
On top of all that we know for a fact that no one important can actually die in this arc because they are the fucking main characters. Its just an exercise in 'how dark can I write this story before I have to deus ex machinima everything to get back to the actual main arc'. I couldn't completely read this chapter. I had to start skimming halfway through just to get past all the shlock.
4951038
…Well, the three of them AND all those animals Rainbow Dash brought!
If you look at him and see nothing but a softhearted cream puff, you need your eyes checked. He's survived hellish ordeals you can't begin to imagine. And not from being easy prey.
4951780
I do love doing that in my stories.
4952228
4952424
…I can't help but love the way you think, sir.
"I... what... ugh." Space Cadet rhythmically thudded his face against the top of his desk. "Discord, this arc had better start making some sort of sense soon. I won't start on the national security and criminal implications of the actions and abilities of this little gang, or the apparent random crossover with some other work you're editing on the side. But the sudden switch from speculative fiction to techno-thriller came completely out of nowhere, doesn't match the rest of the story's tone at all, and frankly just isn't up to your usual level."
---
4954972 Yeah, I had to skim too. And not having caught up with Into the Hedge, I had to jump down to the comments to figure out what the hell was going on there. And this sort of shit just Shouldn't Be Possible if the princesses are keeping any sort of eye on the Bearers, even before this fustercluck with Starswirl's spell.
4954972 It pushed my disbelief too in all honesty.
Yep, blue eyes in the darkness and the state of his obsidian hooves after they found him pretty much tell the tale.
Is Lero Sidhe, or Unseligh, or does it depend on just how far he has to go to save his herd?
Ohhh. I forgot about what the reordering was, until just now.
Rarity is calling down the Flash Fog.
Thing is, will Dash break in denial, or break back to Dash. 5 Master Rainboom Dash.
And then, appropriately enough, it was on like Donkey Kong.
Fantastic chapter all around. Definitely looking forward to more, especially with Dash poised on the very edge of sanity.
Also, the fog seems to have three potential sources: Rarity, an alicorn... or Lero.
You...bastard...
I just spent the last 2 hours, from 4-6am, reading this blasted god-like piece of literature and you leave me hangin' on THAT!?
I hate you...but I love you...
...anyone else listen to Three Days Grace?
4959218
I do =3
Nice chapter.
But I fucking hate action like this:
-Show us some guard ponies helping main cast.
-They don't give a shit and don't act after all hell went loose inside the building(Or I am blind and didn't see them joining fight)
Also, question. What color of eyes Lero have? I forgot.....
Also what the hell was that predator-tentacle kitty?
4962614
to answer your last question...
fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/017/f/7/displacer_beast__monster__by_conceptopolis-d5rshsm.jpg
It's a Displacer Beast, also known as a Coeurl.
I know what this story's been missing! Honeydew... running into some Poison Joke!
Would Honeydew get turned into a bonobo or a human? Would she stay female or get switched? Maybe she'd just turn into Lero, that'd be all kinds of funny... and weird.
4963732 Damn, son. Those are some nasty tentacles there....
I still wonder what color Leros eyes have xP I'm pretty sure they are green not blue(yeah I'm wondering about that being who masacred our rotting diamond dog, using obsidian shackles of Lero to do that)
4964055
Lero's eyes are in fact, not blue.
You might want to read "Into the Hedge"
4963918
Oooh, hard call! I think the poison joke would probably turn her into a talking bonobo.
4962614
Lero's eyes are hazel.
That's Sassy. You saw her in Chapter 25.
4964507
You must mean "Into the Hedge". Here's an excerpt from Chapter 1 (almost at the end):
Come to think of it I'd be curious to know what effect, if any, Poison Joke might have on Lero.
4965398
Right, that's what I said. >_>
I'm of the opinion, since he has no magical biology, it has no effect on him.
4964507 I'm sure to take a peak at that fic. It's not another "version of the Swap story" so I'm happy to read it one day.... especially with taking inspiration about mythos from Changling: The Lost.
4966295
If the lack of a magical biology meant he couldn't be affected by magical effects, potions, spells and anything based in magic would have no effect on him. Considering he's received magical treatment from Ponyville's medical staff, and is mentioned as taking stamina boosting potions in Chapter 26, I would assume that Poison Joke would also work on him. It may not work entirely the way it does on ponies, or have as much of an effect, but it would still do something.
4966999
Right, except poison joke, in my mind, functions by warping he magic in the victim's system. Lero has no magic, so no effect.
4967064
Since the neither the show nor the creator of the Xenoverse have explained how Poison Joke works in each setting, it's impossible to confirm or refute either theories.
I guess that leaves the author with more room to play with it, as long as he comes up with something that remains consistent with what we know of the plant and the Xenoverse setting.
Of course it would be much more entertaining to not have Lero be immune to Poison Joke's effects. I can see already a few stories from Further Tales and Shotglass Oneshots that could have used Poison Joke as a plot device.
4967874
Hence "In my mind". It's head canon.
I was a bit turned off by the time spent in alternate realities... I apologize to those who wrote them however while they were written just fine it seemed as though they went on too long for me.
I am glad to see that the story has taken up a more interesting pace since then.

4954972 Actually, Twilight isn't an alicorn yet... She wont ascend until after all her friends are fixed by the swap...
... whenever that will be. Maybe in another 30 chapters or so?
I really thought discord was gonna show up and deal some chaotic justice/brutality

Divided Rainbow is a sequel to Xenophilia. If you want to really want to see the tale of Herd Bellerophon from its how-they-all-first-met-and-became-a-herd beginning, you'll want to read that story first.
4954972 Personally... I am getting sick of this story dragging through mud and, as you said, 'how dark can I make it' scenarios. Really sick of it. Sick of the suspense and everyone operating on being brainwashed. I stopped reading this months ago because I loathed the 'twist' of Luna and Celestia being Swapped, and the damned idea that 'everything is staying Swapped for greater good'.
This is no longer a fun read, or even that engaging beyond rage at how characters and circumstance is written. Just. End it.
Let me elaborate why I am sick of things dragging on, or at least a couple:
One: I hate grimdark crap on bias and principle.
Two: You said that this was of the idea that how bad things got in MMC around Ponyville as a result of the Swap couldn't possibly get that bad that quickly... but THEN you are making the characters comfortable in those roles and therefore negating that... and THEN you're pulling that 'murderous rampage incoming' crap out with Rainbow Dash.
Three: To be repetitious, it is just dragging ON and ON AND ON AND ON!!!
5055483
I can understand where you're coming from. I generally tend to dislike grimdark myself, particularly when it's purely gratuitous and utterly irrelevant torture-and-gloom-for-torture-and-gloom's-sake. Those are the worst, aren't they?
Would you rather Lero have NOT done what he could to help the Swapped adjust to their present circumstance while Twilight's trying her best to figure out a Cure?
...Then you'd REALLY be seeing some deep grimdark.
You say I'm 'pulling' it, as though I never ever, ever even hinted that that homicidal mania was a possible pitfall the Swapped Five ran the risk of plummeting into. Like I did in Chapter 9. And Chapter 14. And Xenophoolia. And Chapter 29.
Oh my, my, my. Well, I do SO hate to disappoint a reader. Alright, here goes...
THIRTY-THREE: So Very Hot
At this juncture, Discord realized that he should never ever have let Fluttershy reform him. Evil rocked because good was dumb. So he flew out into space, picked up the planet where all those pesky ponies lived with all their endless problems, and flung it straight into the sun. It burned super-quick.
"Well, that's one way to solve a Swap!" he chuckled to himself, before flying off to Cybertron.
THE END
Whew! There you go, buddy. Gotta say, Divided Rainbow's been a long, hard slog, but I don't think anyone can deny that a conclusion like that is what makes the whole journey worthwhile. Seriously, I hope that ending was as fun for you to read as it was for me to write.
Take care, then! Mind your P's and Q's, Snow123, and stay deliciously frosty!
5055862 Lol. Okay, okay... your response, justified as it is, made me chuckle. I'm serious. Your response gets a thumbs-up!
5055882
Hey, it's cool. Absolutely no hard feelings, I promise.
Listen, Snow123, I'll reveal this much: there IS somewhere I'm going with all this. Exit Wound and Honeydew were NEVER meant to be 'gratuitous grimdark filler villains.'
Fact is... when planning out this part of the story, I anticipated getting some of these very complaints. Some of you readers would enjoy the 'Sicklefin Arc,' some wouldn't.
At this point, all I can ask is that you stay with me for one more chapter.
Whether you've been thrilled and amazed by every moment of the Sicklefins...
Or been put off by what appears to be a completely unnecessary detour...
...Chapter 33's gonna BLOW YOUR MINDS. You won't BELIEVE that I actually WENT THERE.
Seriously, thank every one of you readers. The hard-to-please critics and the loving fans alike.
ALL of you are what make writing Divided Rainbow so enjoyable for me.
5055972 Alrighty then.
