Applejack made a mistake a few months ago and has been carrying it around with her ever since. Literally.

yes! wonderful chapter as always^w^
that was some freaky shit!!! poor film..
As I understand it, a body temp of 108 can be fatal. Higher ones have been recorded, usually drug-induced, but any human with a fever above 107 should be sent to a hospital ASAP.

hun, i have seen john de lancie in a boa and a taco hat. seeing him in drag would be hilarious.
anyways. more? when you can?
Ah Discord.
You play nanny so well. And look! You've even gone and done something good of your own volition!
...
I'm so proud of you!
I THINK I'M HAVING A SEIZURE!
Poor Flim. Being tormented by nightmares is one thing but being physically clawed? Shame on you, Discord! He has enough physical injuries at present.
The Omen: pretty spooky name for a chapter and I can see why: Flim's got a fever and infected stitches, Applejack's having the foal in the barn, the foal's premature, the cold might damage both of them, and finally if Flim dies, he'll drag his brother down with him.
Forget shipwreck, this is scare-wreck!

Quite right. I would've enjoyed seeing this Discord getting beaten around the room some more.
Oh Sue, you do a great Discord. I couldn't help but be reminded of the time Q played 'God' to Picard in the TNG episode "Tapestry", as an homage, even unintentional, this was excellent.
Yeah, high fevers, I think I've done 105, probably explains several things ... then again.
Looking forward

A taco hat?? You mean like kevinhearne.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/tacopopespoken.jpg
As soon as possible I wasn't sure exactly how to go about certain chapters, but now that we're in the home stretch, I (think) I know what I'm doing.

HAHAHAHA I just love this reaction

Ooh, something for me to look up! Yay!
This was a powerful chapter. That whole thing with Flam thinking Flim was using the light bulb trick to make his temperature seem higher really heightened the tension.
I like how superstitious Big Mac is, lots of people who suffer tragedy in their lives become superstitious as a way of hoping to prevent future random acts of fate.
I really like seeing more of Trixie gradually becoming a better pony. In this chapter she goes from genuinely caring about one pony to genuinely caring about two, good to see there is hope for her.
And of course, Discord. It's pretty clear Discord is the planning this elaborate dream warning as an excuse to get Flim back with Applejack, but whether little Loophole is genuinely in danger is unclear. What's also unclear is whether Applejack has gotten over her prejudice. The fact that she allows everyone except Twilight (who knows the truth) to believe Flim just ran out on her for no reason, rather than him being driven away, does not give me high hopes that Applejack has matured on this subject.
Discord is taking a risk here, I suspect. Even for a good reason, I really doubt Luna would allow Discord to inflict terrible nightmare/fever dream on her subjects, and she may well be able to pick up Discord's magic in the dream world. If Flim does show up in Ponyville and deliver this warning not to give birth in a barn, and Applejack brusquely sends him on his way, I think Discord's reaction will be very interesting indeed.

I agree with you, what the chaos spirit is doing is nothing short of hazardous. I've seen Luna lose her temper, and it's definitely not pretty (see Luna Eclipsed).
Discord doesn't seem to understand that at present, Flim can't go to Ponyville. Flim's very, very sick: he might have convulsions, already has kaleidoscope vision, a nearly-impossible high temperature, possibly might die and can't move very much. To put the icing on the disaster cake, Flam thinks that his twin's hallucinating when Flim tries to warn him.
Fluttershy might possibly get mad too.
6377563 That's another good point, Flim's poor health. I thought the entire fever may have just been brought on by Discord, in which case he should recover quickly I would think. If Discord was just taking advantage of Flim actually getting a fever from his infected wounds, then yeah that's another serious problem. Something tells me Flim won't be fully healed before the baby's born, especially if it's really early.
If Flim collapses in the middle of Ponyville, raving about how Discord says his daughter is in danger, and then Flim is permanently harmed by the experience, someone is going to notice those fairly unique claw wounds on Flim's shoulder, and then Discord will really be in for it.
That was a mind blowing read .Good job Discord get him do his job and save AppleJake abd there baby in time.

As soon as I can! I'll get to working on it tomorrow, but it'll take some time to edit. Look for it in the next week or two. Thanks for asking
No. No he did not.
Yes he left Applejack but you gave him a reason to leave. Yes he hid his bisexuality from her but you gave him a reason to. The only one in the wrong and at fault for the current situation is Applejack.
Yes she has realized her mistake but she never corrected it. Currently Flim is on death's door while Applejack is being surrounded by her loving friends and family to help with her little bit of loneliness. Yet you expect us to give all of our sympathy to Applejack and treat Flim like some villain for...what?
What wrong has Flim commited to deserve this kind of treatment? Leaving Applejack? Again that was all on her. She was the one who made it perfectly clear on how she thought about bisexuals. What else could have Flim done except wait and find a way to tell her that wouldn't ruin their relationship?
Applejack was both unnecessarily cruel and horribly ignorant at the hospital, but she pretty much got of scott free for her actions. If the potential death of the baby would be the karma for driving off her "fiance", then why is he being the threatened? Why is he the only one suffering?
Also, instead of having some natural situation, like Applejack being injured with the baby's safety unclear for example, to bring Flim back. You pull this ominous superstitious nonsense on us that is so forced that the pressure is crushing me against my floor. Do you expect us to be behind Discord? How can we be antagonistic toward Flim over something that hasn't happened, have no natural means to know it will happen, and whose past action have no correlation.
And don't even get me started on the attitudes of Applejack's friends towards Flim, espescially since they have next to no understanding of the situation nor the actions from both parties that have lead to it.
I will finish the story, but these last two chapters have really rubbed me the wrong way. If it ends with Flim being villainized and being the only one having to attone for something then i will have no choice but to downvote this story.

Wow, what a comment! I'll do my best to answer.
No! And that's partly the point; what's happening is not right, and not fair, as will be pointed out in later chapters. The fact that you had such a reaction to this chapter and the previous one kind of makes me happy, because that's what I was going for---to project this sense of unfairness, Discord is supposed to be in the wrong here; several other commenters mentioned this. Many people--most, I dare say---have had a situation where they were unfairly blamed, and I wanted to tap into that.
Welp, sorry you feel that way, but I can't respond that much in this particular comment since it seems you haven't finished the story, and I don't want to give anything away prematurely. Let's just say that superstitions aren't always based in reality, even in Happy Horse Land, and living your life based on them can be a mistake. But I am curious as to the "instead of" part: what would you have rather seen?
I'm not actually sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing! I did intend some parts to be frustrating and unfair, but I'm not sure if we're on the same page here, so to speak.
Hm, I don't think it ends like that, but you may have a different take on it. You're free to vote as you wish, of course, but either way, I do appreciate the feedback.
