Sugarcoat is basically the sane and sensible - if very, very blunt - voice of the audience.
Hat's off to you for managing to address the important points without taking a moral stand for either side. You really don't see that very often.
Yeah, she's going to be prevalent in season 1 a lot. A lot of people forget, especially those who think the show's gotten 'worse', is how childish season 1 was. Don't get me wrong, it's still good. I still enjoy most of these episodes, but a lot of them could have been resolved quicker with more mature characters, such as they are now.
So far, this story is really interesting, but it's a bit too short. That's of course nothing against this fic as it's main point is Sugarcoat to speak up her mind. Though...
Friendship is Magic: Them knowing beforehand about it wouldn't change much and Twilight was kind of anti-friends at the start.
Applebuck Season: While I did like that chapter {seriously, someone write a Sugarmac fic} I don't think Applejack would listen. She already ignored her own brother. A stranger wouldn't do much to sway her.
I'm interested in how you're going to go about Dragonshy... Keep writing this. Sugarcoat is my favorite Shadowbolt and I should really get onto writing a story about her.

For reference, what you should have done with this one is have Sugarcoat point out to Celestia that perhaps the immortal sun goddess and her rather sizeable, armed and trained Royal Guard were better-suited to deal with a dragon than a librarian, a tailor, a weatherpony, a farmer, a baker, and a pony who runs an animal shelter in her own home.
Didn't earn the instant fave with this one, but I'm sure you'll get there eventually!
