When I saw James was saved:
And a massive deviation from the original plot occurs. Interesting.
Hmmm.....
I dunno about this change of events.
Liam Neeson'sYour Dad's sacrifice was supposed to be a major part of the story...I was looking forward to how you would write her reactions and such.
Not change the story so drastically, magical pony not withstanding.
Oh well.
Thank you for saving James.
Now if only my fallout characters had a magical talking horse...
Mmmm, I see someone else didn't like how the game plot went either.
This probably allows for the stabilization of the capital waste in the long run and the ability for Sarah to be able to stay w/ Luna. Excellent choice my good sir.
Feel free to delete this if I just went spoilerish.
And this is why you never mess with a scientist, they'll find a way to get you, even from beyond the grave.
Why didnt Luna take any of the fallen soldiers plasma rifles? One would think her lady boner for incredible firepower would be going nuts over a weapon that fires matter hot enough to turn solid steel into vapor on contact.
4255595
Actually she did take them, but being in the middle of the field in the midst of combat with the life of her love's father on the line she chose to trust the weapon she's been relying on for years instead of a weapon she knows nothing about.
4255634 Fair enough, thought she would have commented though.
Huh. I was not expecting James to survive. But, I am impressed. You've stepped up your game since last chapter. My one complaint is that when Sarah, Nim, and Luna were sneaking into the Jefferson Memorial, you'd think that there'd be more than one group of Enclave guarding the door. If you're writing on the assumption that there are more people than the actual game shows, there would probably be several patrols patrolling, as well as sentries posted. Sarah was right; sneaking in was waaaaay too easy. But, for the sake of progress, I'll let it go. Aside from that, this was a solid chapter. All in all, this chapter gets a Where the hell is Sam/10.
Oh, and since Taft Tunnel is up next, make sure that you make the chapter long and action packed. It's an important part of the game, and since James isn't dead anymore, you have a golden opportunity.
...
I am so happy now...
4255806 Well, for a realistic take on the Wastes, a group of soldiers were sent to take control of a facility held by a small number of non-combatants. It would make more sense, tactically, to send a small, quiet force in first, and then send in back-up in case of traps. Especially since you aren't expecting enemy combatants.
In fact, the game's invasion fleet for the purifier was a bit over the top for what was needing to be done, especially since sneaking a small group past the BoS would be easier anyway.
4256065
You make a point, but the BoS didn't begin guarding the memorial until after you escape to the Citadel. Not only that, but Project Purity was the Enclave's main focus for 'purifying' the Capital Wasteland. It'd make sense for them to not take any chances. While you're right that they wouldn't need to send an army, they'd still send more than ed2481 wrote.
4255806
While the Enclave would surely send enough troops to take the facility, their arrogance would never let them believe that anything the locals would do would be a threat.
Having said that, I believe their counterattack will be especially brutal.
4256173
To be honest; by the time Sarah and Luna got in there the majority were combing the basement for any straggling scientists or on the other side of the Memorial setting up that half of the perimeter. Also keep in mind that Sarah and Luna together managed to take down an entire squad sneakily (five to ten people in a squad to my way of thinking) and honestly, how often do you need more than a squad of troops wearing power armour to guard a door when the only resistance you expect to encounter is 'security guards' from Rivet City?
Least, those are the ideas that I had in mind when I wrote the chapter. Hope it still makes sense when written out like that.
4256201
I suppose that makes sense, but the basements are relatively compact, and the other half of the memorial was surrounded by water, so there's not much of a perimeter to begin with. As for resistance, the amount of people would be a draw for Super Mutants (which there are mutant camps very close to the memorial). But hey, it doesn't detract from the story, and it makes for some cool writing.
4256300
Oh good, I'm glad it didn't detract from anything. To be completely honest I usually write chapters in one day (usually in two to three hours straight) and then publish them after a friend or two pre-reads them. In other words, I see the logic behind what you're saying, I just didn't consider it at the time
4256173 What I meant was that the Enclave's base, Raven Rock, The Citadel, and Project Purity are almost in a perfect line.
Depending on resources, such as fuel, and how much intel the Enclave had on Purity, that first group could have gone literally to test defences and scout while avoiding being spotted by the BoS.(As a flock of Vertibirds would draw huge amounts of attention, while one low flier could sneak by.)
Imagine say, and envoy before a nation invades. That is pretty much what this was.
A "Hey, gtfo, we're taking over soon." before the main forces arrive. It also means that if say, the BoS was there, and so was Liberty Prime, then the Enclave would have found out.
4256336
That's why you have readers ! It happens to the best of us, so no worries.
you glorious bastard you
Wonder what Nim will say when she finally see's a LasGat (Gatling Laser for those of you with little ability to figure out shortenings)....Hell,I'd kinda wish she'd witness the glory of the plasma caster,Just for funsies.....Or the Euclid's C-Finder's Orbital strike in all its glory
*BELLOWING, MANLY FANGIRL SCREAMS OF JOY*
So James survived, huh? That's interesting, very interesting indeed. Luna aside, I wasn't expecting you to be willing to shake up the main story like this since you've more or less been staying true to the game's plot. I'm curious as to where you're going with this, although theoretically the actual effect on the story would be small.
And good thing Sarah picked up Lincoln's Repeater before encountering the Enclave. Their power armor would be a bitch to crack open otherwise (still is, really, but it's better than 'impossible'). Still, you gotta love Fallout logic; a .44 bullet to the head would probably snap your neck, helmet or no.
What?.......What?!........i just.....lost train of though of what happen...
Ahm, you hear that? Thats the Doctor screaming in agony because someone messed with a fixpoint in time.
Honestly, I couldnt give two fucks about that. You saved James and thats all that matters!!!
One a personal note, I liked it when James got killed in the original story, it was definitly a major dramtic effect and made me hate the enclave more then anything else. I was still curious what would have happend if I could have saved him thou.
Onward to the next chapter, lets meet the "good" Brotherhood!
I think this chapter is a perfect example of how much Luna's presence affects the original story of fallout and i think it's better then Luna doing nothing
4257814
Thanks, I hate it when people do a crossover but don't think about the huge impacts that the ponies (or any other group to be honest) can have on the universe that they come too so I tried to actively avoid doing it.
4256007
HEhehehehehehehehe
I'm loving the deviation, I knew you were going to use Luna's teleportation, as it was so heavily discussed, but I have to admit, I thought she would just teleport her dad out, not go in there herself.
Huueeeuuueueueueeeeeueee
Looks like a certain author is ready for the next season of a certain web series on the 28th
WHAT
DO
YOU
FIGHT
FOR?
As awesome and manly fan girlish squee inducing as saving James is, I can't help but feel that Luna's last comment is ominous. What magic did Luna use if there wasn't enough in the ambient area? Was the effort really a mortal wound? Is this the kind of sacrifice that will end up sending her back to Equestria?
These questions and more answered...eventually, maybe... on the next Wandering Moon! ;)
4255366 well to be fair it was bullshit that he died and the Colonel lived
Another awesome chapter done! :D
Good on you, you saved her dad! :D I found it totally unfair that he died while that douche survived -_-
And poor Luna, hope she'l be alright ;-;
Good show! keep it up!

I don't get these references. What are they from?
4571906 They are references to popular web series Red VS Blue.
Oh good, they saved Liam Neeson.
YOU SAVED DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!
That one seen made me so pissed I wanted smash the window and kill them all. Except Dad of course.
4255367 Alicorn. Luna is an alicorn.
And thus Nim became VATS.
And we now finally see a disconnect from canon. Yay! :)
Frank and DuFrense... Frank DuFrense... Doc... HAH! RvB reference!
5001380
SATS
4646746 I don't know about you, but I think this one's a little more relevant...
OMFG DAD IS STILL NOT KILL HOORAAAYYYY!!!
5041403 Except potentially not really.
You see, the "Cannon" Is only a series of events, If something diverts from path X to go on path Z but still ends up at path Y, It won't break the cannon.

Had the Lone Wanderer's father not died at the purifier, and had survived long past it, it would not change the course of events overly much. I mean, we included a flying magic alicorn princess and the voice in her head, and Luna and Nim just made Sarah way more effective than she ever could have been on her own. Plus, I'm really enjoying their tri-part relationship, which came as a bit of surprise to me.
