Mort, also known as the Pale Pony (of Death), has been tasked to take time off from his rigorous duties of reaping souls. Seeking guidance, he is directed towards the town of Ponyville, to learn about the magic of friendship from Twilight Sparkle and her friends. All he needs to do is keep his true nature a secret. That shouldn't be too difficult...right?

This story is being put back up for archiving purposes. It was once featured, thrice rewritten, and abandoned. I don't even remember what was original draft and what was rewrite. I just think it'd be a shame to leave it.

I've also added some of the "in progress" rewrites that were planned but never published/completed.

Train wrecks and stereotypes. The city of Manehattan remains divided, even after the Elements of Harmony brought the world back together. Ponies of all sorts squander the resources and scraps left to them, trapped far from the beautiful light above; unwanted and sickeningly poor. Streets are cramped and flooded whilst chemical mists linger throughout. This city wasn't designed for them, it is merely the knife-edge of a crumbling empire. Caught in a train hijacking gone wrong, and on the wrong side of the law, Awry finds himself in a delicate balance of power.

The question is simple. All in... or fold?

Octavia wanted to forget war. She wanted to live a normal life not filled with bloodshed, and focus on her music career. Unfortunately, war is rarely considerate, so when the changelings invade, Octavia has no choice but to act in order to save her country from possibly a threat worse than even the War of 1972.

But in a city taken over by creatures that can take any shape, who can you trust?

This story is NOT a retelling of Metal Gear Solid, but it uses some of the tropes from that game.

Octavia has been having these really odd dreams. There is only one other mare she can talk to about this. Yes, Vinyl is the only one she can feel safe to tell this to. Well Vinyl has been thinking and doing some looking of her own on the matter and was going to try it on herself one night, but feels that Octavia would enjoy it more. Now months of fun are now on their way.
