How many chapters long will this story be?
Definitely liked this chapter- won't talk much on the short aside bits since they do push the story ahead- Chrysalis for example doing stuff, and some nice calming bits in the Canterlot hospital, and whatever Bon Bon and Lyra are doing- I do really like those as palate cleansers in a way cause the rest of the chapter packed on the rest of the excitement. Lot of little moving parts here. But the main focus seemed to be on Celestia- and I really liked how you humanized her here cause she had hints of put together Celestia and yet the flashback kind of made her nicely approachable. Interesting to see you go with a plan to get Twilight to an alicorn so soon- though with all the moving pieces here, the Changelings, the ghyphons, the Storm King, they probably need another. Twilight might be an interesting character now cause she's definitely having a hard time adjusting to all the new information she learned in like the last two to three chapters. But what was getting me is you slightly mentioned that the Soarinfire scene was going to be different. I was thinking it was going to be different in a completely different way- was expecting something less cute- but not expecting Changeling fight on a cloud. Went to a place I wasn't expecting and it didn't disappoint in my opinion. Even had a nice laugh with Spitfire and Soarin' figuring out which were real. Really liked that wife detector line. I don't know exactly what was the worry here cause I think you pulled off the ending. Maybe it was a tad long in hindsight, but I liked the whole chapter.

But who might Chrysalis have captured?
Glad to know Celestia's moments worked.
The ending may have been about 440 words long. There was a slightly earlier point I could cut it, but I decided to let the moment between husband and wife roll on a bit longer and come to a more natural end. Between the two main focuses in the chapter (Celestia & the wonderbolt couple) I just felt it worked with that little more time spent with the focal characters.
More on Twilight later.

Hi there.
We might be half way through the story. I sorta have ~300k words in my mind for total length.
Why?
Celestia no need to follow that agreement Tge friffons are gearing for war
You think Celestia regrets not killing her enemies?
As usual you have me hooked on this story. It was interesting to see Celestia unloading everything she had been keeping to herself and Twilight reacting to that. And yet despite after telling so much, she has yet to say who her daughters are. The Celestia chunk of this story I think you really did well with showing how everything has affected her in the past many years. It's not to say the rest was bad but this stuck out. The Spitfire/Soarin scenes were funny and amusing.
With Luna's dreamscape abilities, it seems like it's going to make it rather obvious who has been replaced by changelings.
It was a quite a lengthy chapter but a good read.
That was I think the only mistake I found when reading. Still, great chapter and I'm very interested in finding out what happens next...

Thanks.
Glad to know Celestia’s part stuck out. I had sort of split the chapter into her part and Spitfire/Soarin’s part.
Good old Cele… has many layers of information. She’s sharing more than would be ideal and half the fun was Twilight’s reactions. You’ve seen how Cele is on the show… of course she isn’t going to drop all her secrets in one go…. Twilight still has to work to figure some of this out and in the case of family, Celestia may be forthcoming soon. Or not.
Your thoughts on Luna’s skills may come into play soon. Of course, this requires Luna to check the dreamscape at the right times to figure out if someone has been replaced or if they should still be sleeping…
Thanks for pointing that oops out.

Regrets not killing?
I'm sorry, I thought that in the flashback that ponies and griffons died to her flames?
She certainly is a ruler who likes peace and prosperity so it entirely possible that she may regret taking many lives.

Yes. Yes, they are.
Using their tech and other sneaky stuff to combat pony magic.
Thank you for all your comments so far.

If only she killed that gryphon dude way back when they would never have a chance in hell of bringing him back now (it's only a matter of time)

Ah yes.
Well, no one can see the future. And she was a young alicorn back then.

I don't see a contrast. I see an chapter one trying to desperately to make me care about half a dozen or so OCs most of which die off later and a chapter two which shipdumps Flutterdash.

With the other things that cropped up after a thousand years? HOPEFULLY the point is driven home that some are irredeemable and need to be put down
