Yes!
I seriously can't wait for more...keep it up!
This was a great chapter and I certainly enjoyed the Nightmare's defeat. The fact that Rarity keeps the Nightmare's powers is a wonderfull addition. I am also looking forward to the next chapters promised in the author's note and I would like to see Starlight corrupted by the curse, which is likely to happen since Ecplipse has no reason to postpone it until Sunset's arrival.
The way Rarity was encouraged to regain control of her own body was hilarious and deceptively simple since they basically copied Discord's fashion sense. I'm also wondering if the fact that Cyber Belle also received Sunset's call is going to play a role or if it was accidentaly erased by the Nightmare's malware.
Edit: I also liked the fact that Spike's chair grew in size to accomodate him.
The terrible demon defeated by the power of tackyness and outrage.
Finally! After nearly four years I've finally commented on the last chapter of Fallout Equestria. Man oh man were their ups and downs. There was triggering and their was bliss. Trixie got blown up with a nuke and assumed into Valhalla. Railcars were dropped and the protagonist became a god.
Of course this is Nightmare Night, not FoE. But do you ever truly leave the wasteland or is it always there, lurking in the back of your mind like the sweltering jungle heat of Vietnam?
It ain't me. It ain't me! I ain't no Tenpony's son.
It ain't me. It ain't me! I ain't got no plasma gun, NO!
Okay, the bit is over, on with the chapter! (I could honestly do an entire FoE themed Fortunate Son though. I should do that sometime and post it to Fallout Equestria's comment section. Kkat will get a chuckle out of that. )
Sounds like we're getting some hot kaiju on kaiju action!
Me at work: "Delta, I need to check Fimfiction to see how my latest story release is doing..."
Yeah, she'd grow to hate me quickly.
I am Princess Planet!

To be fair, that's not a high bar to clear. I still liked that show, dammit. Fight me Nostalgia Critic!
The meme about the Black Knight having had worse applies unironically here!
Not my first choice but damn if she didn't grow on me over time. Spike got better over time as we talked about before but how about Starlight Glimmer? By the series finale, she was kicking as much ass as Twilight Sparkle used to back in the old days. Glim-Glam combines the beauty of Sunset Shimmer and the ass-kicking power of Applejack into one authoritarian package and that's pretty damn hot if you stop to think about it. Also, she likes kites. Who doesn't?
derpicdn.net/img/2018/5/17/1734664/large.png
A bit typecast though, Nightie! What's the matter, you can't use pink energy? Maybe change it up a bit?
Not going to work. Twilight isn't so stupid as to get feared into the whelp cave.
Nightmare showed her late-season/Movie Twilight complaining about how problems are too big for her to handle now while her friends do all the work while Starlight does all the cool magic shit instead. Eclipse isn't buying that such terrible writing is even possible.
How will Nightie ever recover from being taunted by tables? Ikea must be her mortal enemy.
We used to think the plot made Twilight Sparkle far too strong until the plot became the excuse to make her far too weak. It's good to have strong Twilight back again even if in fanfiction.
But is it as metal as murdering mermaids?
Then how did you block them? DO you have a WoW paladan's Divine Shield spell packed in your arsenal?
We'll see just how low you can go, sister!
Desperate to break the stalemate, Eclipse draws upon her past-life experience as Twilight Sparkle to inflict her ultimate attack against Nightmarity: the lecture!
Laughter is good for the soul. Or it's good for when you're stealing souls. These are minor details...
Do trap cards make you gay?
It wasn't much help to him in season 6, was it?
Is it so cold in the vacuous void because of all the trapped souls who simply couldn't let it go?
derpicdn.net/img/2016/1/15/1067013/large.jpeg
But can it make Applejack love me?
derpicdn.net/img/2014/8/3/690426/large.jpeg
Azura has no idea what you're talking about!
Shimmersage, she's doing it again!
Spike is a 'learn by doing' kinda guy and he's been doing a lot - and often.
An unintentional FoE reference in NMN? More likely than I thought! This is the payoff from that bit I did earlier. There's a potion zebras can make that gives them bat wings they can fly with.
In my headcanon, they went from being a race of tyrants lording it over the Chineighse with advanced fire magic to lovable, cuddly, floofy, snuggle-bunny pacifists living in the Equatorial jungles of what we call Central and South America after having destroyed every island they ever colonized in the South Pacific Ocean after repeated civil wars. They swore off talking and founded a nation stretching from Guatemala to Brazil.
You're getting serious mileage out of Silver Seax's name!

Now that's a punchline, sensei! Well done, well done!
The Crystal Empire reference is most appreciated. Part 2 was always the best part of the season 3 opener.
Dream reruns aren't as good as the real thing! I love the borg episodes... well except season 7 Voyager's. That shit was whack.
I mean who'd have thought ancient Egypt could hack computers. You guys really did have pyramid spaceships!
All illegally, you filthy pirate!

William the Silent knows what's up.
I will reach through my monitor and strangle you!
Littlepip, drop the railcar on him!
Don't even get her started on salad in a martini glass!

Best case scenario he gets the thestral guardspony!
And Twinkies...
i.imgur.com/YfPn6CW.png
Mmm...
That's a bold move, Cotton. Let's see how it works out for her!
Sunset is taking the expression "suicide mission" quite seriously. Is she a bad enough girl to take down the league of extraordinarily overpowered supervillains with nothing but a smoking-hot bod? We'll find out next time on Unleash the Magic!
Trying to tempt me to comment with card game references? A good try, but...
Wait. Crap.
But yeah, this was a fantastic gambit roulette, and an exquisite masterstroke.
I always got the sense that Starlight was holding back a lot. She didn't want to kill Twilight.

So noted!
10043258
Thank you! Be looking for a blog later today.
10043291
I'm very glad to hear that, for as hard as this was to write. It was just one of those chapters that refused to come easily, so it's very gratifying to see it received so well. It means the work was worth it!
Thanks! It made perfect sense in context of the story, and I really wanted her to have it. The better question at this point is how much of their altered forms and powers they retain when all is said and done. I have answer, and I'll all say for now is that it has a parallel with what happened to the Humane 6 post-Midnight Rising.
That's two votes. And at this point, I believe I agree with you. My original intention had been that Starlight would never actually be corrupted, but as I think about it, that makes much less sense at this point.
I didn't think of it that way, but you're right! Yes, it was intended to be both funny and quite fitting. That and the initial Eclipse/Cyber Belle scenes are the sections I'm most proud of in this chapter.
Good question! That remains to be seen, but I think I know the answer.
You're welcome. I think it's the minor touches like that that really sell a story. It also goes to show that the map table--and by extension, Harmony itself--doesn't actually consider the curse to be inharmonious. So then the question becomes, why were Sunset and Sci-Twi summoned? What does it consider the friendship problem to be?
10043314
You're not wrong!
10044331
Whereas I always thought it made zero sense that Starlight was a match for Twilight. One of my main grievances of the show is that it nerfed Twilight all to hell after season 4; she was no longer so magically powerful or adept as we'd seen in earlier seasons. They had to de-power Twilight to make Starlight a threat to her, so this story sought to correct that and explain why it appeared that they were equal before--Twilight was a) afraid of her own power after the battle with Tirek and b) didn't want to hurt Starlight, whom she saw as a badly misguided but very promising young mage that she wanted for a student. So she held back on her repeatedly.
10043973
So you're not going to comment? Aw...
Thank you very much!
Quite risky. Good thing Sunset has some experience with megalomaniacs high on power and arousal. Wonder how Midnight will react if someone else will get to Sunset first? She may have nothing agaist sharing but converting? She's called dibs months ago.
Speaking of which, what she's up to? She's awfully quiet in situation so familiar to one she once created. Not even a comment like "Not bad but I did it better. I like the variety of creatures, though. Guess even inferior version of my power can provide some noteworthy modifications."
10043795
I only know the story by reputation, but that reputation is strong enough that I know what all that stuff refers to. Mostly thanks to you, and the fact that I have an incredible knack of accidentally referencing the story in my own works.
FoE PTSD is a very real thing. There should be support groups and psychiatric specialists for it! But seriously, congrats on getting all the way through it and longposting on each chapter. You're made of very stern stuff for it, my friend.
Heh! Not bad alternate lyrics. But if you need a plasma gun... have one from Halo.
Why not? After tackling the main FoE in all its grimdark glory, the side stories should be easy.
That's one way to put it! Yes, I don't think it's giving anything away to say that's very much planned...
Knowing her personality, she'd probably take revenge in some manner that wouldn't harm you but you'd definitely not like!
You couldn't resist, could you?
But he's got a gun!
If I really wanted to, I'd have them start trading Monty Python quips! But that's probably a bridge too far, even for me.
Starlight basically became the new Twilight when there was nothing intrinsically wrong with the old one. Look, I got nothing against Starlight--like you, she grew on me and I liked her lot by the end. I don't have anything against elevating her, I have something very strongly against doing it at the expense of Twilight, lowering and nerfing her as a character user in the process.
Charlie Brown?
moviegique.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/img_56aea89534945.png
Well, the latter-season show version of Twilight might...
And if it was, she'd jump dimensions to punish the writers!
Ugh... that was supposed to be stone *tablets*! Fixed. I'm sure Twilight would have an interesting reaction to Ikea, though... and probably get secretly addicted to the Swedish meatballs they serve in the cafe.
"Balance" never seemed to enter into the show lexicon, and sometimes her power levels seemed to change from week to week. You and I watched Feeling Pinkie Keen last night when she apparently forgot all her magic and couldn't even remember she could teleport away from a Hydra or erect a shield around herself to block falling objects. But at least we got Twilight Rapidash out of it. You know how much mileage I got from that!
Dunno, but the ones in Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire just about deserved to be!
Well, she does have some powerful general-purpose protective wards of her own design, and the ability to quickly analyze what's being cast and how to counter it. So she might as well, yes!
You know, I could almost see Pinkamena making that joke here!
At which point The Nightmare flees Rarity's body in a mixture of boredom and terror!
Look, you can't be a proper evil queen unless you master the evil laugh! And even if The Nightmare's been successful at little else over her long life, she certainly learned how to do one!
I really don't like the concept of traps, I'm sorry to say. Yeah, I know it's especially a thing in hentai, but feminized or effeminate males don't appeal to me at all.
I'm just going to say he couldn't use it or Stygian would escape, since keeping him contained required the continued presence of all the Pillars.
Let it be forever known that this time, you made the Frozen reference and not me!
Sorry, but only worshiping her apples can win her heart! That, or a better moonshine brew...
There is no cure for G&P syndrome!
True, but he started small... both figuratively and literally! You haven't seen his progression, but it was... suitable. And very surprising, beginning with a ship I can just about guarantee you nobody ever thought of before.
So noted. I'll see about using that later, either here or maybe even in Firefly!
I don't have any issue with that headcanon and I'm more than willing to assume it here and elsewhere. I actually tried to incorporate some of it in that paragraph. Once again, your ideas make it into my stories!
Hey, it's too good NOT to use!
That's not just appropriate, but strangely hypnotic...
*takes a bow* In full disclosure, I got the idea from watching math videos on youtube!
And the best part of part 2 was actually the wife throwing event--Shining Armor launching Cadance like a javelin!
DS9 was unquestionably superior, but Voyager did improve over time... and then faltered a bit at the end. But I do have a soft spot for Captain Janeway.
Of course! That'll be in the next Daring Do novel, you know.
Poor Nightmare. She's endlessly jilted and thwarted. She's like Trixie writ large.
That's the point he decides Scotland isn't worth saving!
Imagine adding Eclipse and Nightmare factions to the game!
Ha! I'm glad you had that reaction. For just imagine what Rarity wants to do! She'll kill The Nightmare just to get to him!
Tactical nuke incoming!
That's the point when, as Nightmarity, she decides the human world cannot be saved and releases her demon army onto it. Or an army of Gordon Ramsays; same difference!
Well, in this story, she shares that dream and desire with you!
Worse case is he gets Zephyr Breeze!
I'm sorry. I'll show myself out before you kill me for giving you that image.
There IS no civilization without twinkies! The world nearly crumbled during that short time we went without them a couple years back!
Given this is *my* story, how well do you think?
Since both you and DB have now made that joke, this really DOES need to be made into a DBZ-type serial!
10044889
It's true; she does. She's both been one and fought one at this point. So she's not going to be frightened by it at this point.
You're asking the right questions. Even Sci-Twi's noticed she seems to be keeping to the background of her thoughts more than usual despite everything happening around them. She's aware of everything Sci-Twi is, so is she up to something...?
Not bad, actually. I may end up using that when the time comes.
They seem to keep forgetting despite being extremely powerful Midnight's gambles have been few and far between, and even then each and every card was masterfully shuffled for her use. Each misstep Midnight seems to remeasure and measure again to be safe.
I like how it doesn't feel entirely convoluted and when surprised Midnight admits it and rolls very well with it. Even keeping cards to herself from allies. Though I wonder if Sweetie's call interception will make an accounting.
Excellent work!
10046548
I think you mean Eclipse, not Midnight. Midnight hasn't appeared in Equestria... yet. But yes, you're right. Twilight overplans and prepares for everything, and Eclipse doubly so. It doesn't mean she can't be caught off-guard, but it does make it much more unlikely, and also means she can recover quickly if it does because she has contingencies in place and an ability to quickly counter unfamiliar magic.
Well, it certainly felt convoluted when I was writing it, as I was finding it very difficult to juggle everything and make it make sense. Judging by the comments, including your own, I think I succeeded.
Indeed it will.
Thank you very much!
Hmmm, will the Nightmare go for Luna now...
10052279
I’m sorry, I completely forgot about this comment! Luna will figure somewhat prominently in the chapters ahead--once we get past the sheer clop ones, that is. Will the Nightmare go for her? First she’ll have to get past Pinkamena and her sisters!
There's certainly quite a lot going on, but I do want to get a brief recap...is the source of the curse really Starlight's initial spell on Fluttershy?
10079483
The origins of the curse--which I know and have shared with prereaders--have been hinted at to this point in the story but not stated outright. The latest hint came when Sunset and Sci-Twi were examining the magical signature of the curse in the previous chapter to this one, so pay particular attention to their observations.
For now, I will say this: it took an unholy alliance of several discrete magical elements--which were (relatively) harmless on their own--to make the curse, which had to come together in just the right way. You saw all the elements that created it in the early chapters, even if just in (deliberately) understated passing. Eclipse has already guessed what happened, and Starlight suspects it.
Did her spell on Fluttershy have something to do with it? Yes, but that alone didn't create it. You'll learn exactly where the curse came from and what role Starlight's spell may have played at story's end.
10079830
I see, thanks for the reply! I look forward to the next chapter(s).
I'm quite curious about Lady Requiem's backstory and where she drew her abilities from; it's very unique. And I love the Epic Music Channel. Off topic question, is it a genre you're fond of, Firesight?
10080761
Regarding Lady Requiem, she's actually one of my OCs. Point of fact, she was actually an SI in her original interpretation.
The current version I'm going with is that she's a former human who ended up in Equestria after a failed suicide-by-jump attempt, and ended up badly injured in Celestia's garden. Celestia, being unfamiliar with human anatomy for the purposes of magical healing, used an ancient forbidden ritual to change Delta into her current form of a pegasus. The ritual combined with her otherworldly origin means that her magical pathways are skewed; Delta has the Spellsinging talent (which is a rare mutation), but she cannot walk on clouds or manipulate the weather without magical aid.
Delta became the Court Bard after demonstrating a downright terrifying degree of finesse with her Spellsinging. What she lacks in raw power, she makes up for in versatility and imagination. As was once said in TAS (which also featured an appearance from her), with the right words and state of mind, she could cause enough chaos to make Discord proud. Her position is as much a means for Celestia (and to a lesser extent Luna) to keep an eye on her, as it is a method to give them eyes and ears outside the palace.
10081586
Oh I see that's really interesting. Thanks for explaining it to me, I appreciate it.
Yeesh, I don't think Blueblood earned treatment that harsh.
Yeah, because that’s a great plan./s
Sorry for the delay in replying to this. Hope you’ve been enjoying the story.
11501454
I know, right? You’d almost think that Sunset wants to get captured...
No plan survives first contact with the enemy, Sunset. You should know that better than most.
