The villains have been vanquished, trust in Sunset Shimmer has slowly been restored, and Trixie Lulamoon has yet another thing to add to her long list of 'totally legit' grievances against the world.

Fortunately, she knows just where to go.

To Trixie, the cafeteria is not only an excellent place to fill up her stomach, but it is also a great place to spill her guts after getting robbed in the Battle of the Bands.

After a long night of recording with Neon Lights, Vinyl Scratch comes home to find that there has been a break in. She rushes in to find Octavia sobbing on the floor, a broken cello grasped tightly in her hooves. Love is a powerful emotion, but even love has it's limits.

Vinyl and Octavia are as close as can be. Sure you can look past each other's flaws and see the beauty in each other just the way you are. But what if that flaw is too much to look past? The wild, alcoholic party tendencies Vinyl tends to exude may push the limit, but with not one ounce of responsibility to back her up, not to mention the countless broken promises and childlike actions stacking up on a daily basis, Octavia has had enough.

Now Vinyl, a mare deeply rooted in living in the moment, forgetful, and irresponsible, must grow to understand a harsher reality without love, and learn to appreciate the world more so than she did before.

Octavia Melody and Vinyl Scratch are musicians and the best of friends; despite this, the two couldn't be more different. But when Octavia leaves Ponyville to find her fortune, she learns that her friend might have been all she ever really needed. Meanwhile, Vinyl finds herself trapped in the shadow of her father, struggling to make her own fame.

Follow them, and many other Equestrian musicians, as they further their musical careers, meet new friends, find love, and experience loss. Together, they encounter dangers, challenges and, ultimately, face the greatest realization of all - what it means to accept one's own destiny.

Using songs of the fandom for inspiration, this story was crafted to show the love of music in all it's forms, but also the love music brings to those around it. This story follows the timeline of the show, trying to match it as closely as possible. This does not mean it's not without bumps.

Octavia's life is fantastic! She's got steady work around Ponyville, she's able to live in relative comfort away from the stress of Canterlot, and she's got a marefriend that lights up her entire life. Or at least she did with that last bit.

When Octavia's marefriend suddenly breaks things off, Octavia's life spirals out of control. What was once a happy life slowly starts to break apart, showing the mare just how bad things had truly gotten. With the help of a few close friends though, Octavia sets out to win back her ex and fix her life. But to do that, she'll have to fix the other issues that have been plaguing her longer than she realized.

Following another date together, Discord asks Fluttershy to talk dirty to him.

Perhaps he should've been clearer about it.
