After Scootaloo finds out Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle are going to be away for the first day of summer she has to find her own fun. At Sugarcube Corner she meets another young pegasus named Rumble who's in a similar predicament. They agree to race but after a close finish they can't agree on who actually won the race.

Nopony ever said the friendship between Fluttershy and Discord would be an easy one. I've spent the majority of my life tilling the desolate land in which I live. Every day, I wake up to move useless rocks from one location to another. This is an archaic line of work that my family has clung to for generations. It is a dull, grey existence.

Today, I have woken up in a strange room, lying in a bed that isn't mine. I'm surrounded by five mares whom I've never seen in my life. They claim to be my friends, and expect me to bring joy to the hearts of everypony.

On a request from Princess Celestia, Twilight Sparkle and the rest of the mane six explore an abandoned mansion located deep in the woods. While doing so, they unwittingly stumble across an enchanted mirror that scrambles their DNA and pops out three brand new bouncing baby ponies. Hilarity and drama ensue as the mane six must cope with being suddenly thrust into motherhood, as well as protect their new foals from a dark god that wishes to use them for his own sinister gain.
