Twilight has just put a crack in the library's front door.

Twilight has damaged government property.

Twilight has been in Ponyville for less than a moon.

Twilight has to fix this before anypony of importance finds out and word gets back to the Princess, which means Twilight is going to be doing all the work herself in the name of desperate secrecy.

Twilight is screwed.

The Valley of the Sun has always been harsh to those who can't handle the heat. When Scott Smith wakes up as a female unicorn, she learns that everything's worse when you're a quadruped alone in a desolate city. As the days heat up and the hunt is on for food, water, and power, even the simplest tasks become impossible. This is how she fares as a unicorn mare.

This is a side story to Starscribe's The Last Pony on Earth.

(Rated Teen for some light swearing and talking about sex)

In the wake of losing almost all of humanity, a road trip is planned. Spending the apocalypse alone isn't fun, especially as a horse. This is my telling of how we went from the Rocket City to the Rockies with some friends to find some more friends so that maybe we could try to find more people.

Maybe in the process we can try to put something that resembles civilization back together.

Matilda and Cranky's wedding didn't go off as planned. That irritates Ponyville's chief planner, who incidentally happens to be one of the four most powerful ponies in all of Equestria. Twilight has many questions, and they begin with the whereabouts of a certain spirit of mischief.

Perkins never was that big of a town. The houses were old enough to run on gas, a fortunate few having second floors as they rose over expansive bare backyards. A tight cluster of municipal buildings, convenience stores, and the occasional tightly cramped sales place huddled around a broken concrete main street almost as old as the bricks in their walls. From there, the roads split and spread quickly, attaching themselves to the offshoot highway nearby as soon as they could. Large plains of tall grass remained untouched, the occasional farm visible in the distance.

It wasn't a bad place, persay. It was modern enough that it had internet and all that, and it was quite relaxed... aside from the occasional pressure to do something outside, in the Oklahoma heat. Tornado warnings would come and go, but the terrifying windstorms usually touched down far away from the inhabited homes. And the apartment I had recently moved into with my grandmother was just large enough for the two of us.

Well... now. Now it was too large for the one of me.

What follows is a rough compilation of my journals in that time, alongside a few notes explaining the situation at the time. Feel free to mock my past self, I know I certainly do!

Discord takes offense to a restaurant's claim of serving "unlimited" breadsticks.

Idea inspired by the sheer ridiculousness of the Unlimited Breadsticks meme.

Originally written for the "I Regret Nothing" WriteOff.

They say that Equestria was a paradise. I don’t know if that’s true, but I wanna believe it. There sure ain’t one in this piece of the ‘Verse. Maybe we coulda built one if it weren’t for the damned Confederation. Those bastards wanted every planet in the system under their hoof and wouldn’t take no for an answer. The outer planets fought ’em, and we lost.

It’s tough to get by these days with Confederation lawkeepers looking for an excuse to crack down, bandits and thieves crawling everywhere the Confederation’s not, and the Jesters prowling around the edges of civilized space. Honest work’s hard to come by, and honest folk are twice as rare. Still, a mare has to make a livin’ somehow. So that’s what I do.

Find a crew. Find a job. Keep flying.

The city itself is the same. The buildings and streets remain untouched and unscathed by what happened. The population wasn't so fortunate. As far as I have been able to tell, they are all gone now with no hints as to how, why, or where they are. Only the empty city.

I'm still here, however. Whatever end happened, I missed it.

If only I were so fortunate to say 'I fared as well as my city'. I'm still here in the suburbs of my empty city, but I'm far from the same as I was. The Limestone City might be unchanged, but I have been left with new hooves to walk on.

I have no intentions of letting an unknown tell me it's the end.

"Dear Dallas, Texas,

"Someone please help. I have been turned into a unicorn, and everyone seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth!

"If you can hear this, please come!

"It's very lonely... please..."

This story is a supplement to Starscribe's "The Last Pony on Earth" It was also the very first side-story in the "Ponies after People" setting. Call me a trendsetter.
