Oh, I know. Drama and all that jazz. But Rex is a very greedy changeling. As I envisioned him, Rex's main sins are greed and (power) lust.
Feed on them all!!!

Huzzah! It updated!
I am confused, I thought changeling fed on love? And how can he drain the life span of people, I mean we are talking about biological changes and not magical
I too love magitech.

Eh, I guess I wasn't clear enough on this. In my head-canon, a changeling feeds on a (magical) pony, they drain the magic from its body using emotions, especially love, as a conduit (more love = more magic that can be extracted). Humans have no magic. Therefore, when a changeling feeds on a human, they rapidly age. I explained this in the chapter "First Feeding."
3532820 Seems like I have over-read something, oops
In my headcannon I stick with the idea of changelings needing emotions to create magic out of normal food and sustain their bodies with it, aswell as using magic themselves.
Anyway, it seems like magic is a bit more "ugly" or horrid in your story, creating paper thin slices of apples which destroy everything through teleportation, changelings being able to reduce their size and weight to a fly, feeding on the lifespan of people, etc.
Aside from that, I am still surprised that nobody of the changelings committed suicide, or even tried. I wouldn't want to live with the fact that somebody can read my whole mind or totally control my body at any time they wish

This part of my head canon isn't really important to the story, but I'll share it anyway. Regular changelings cannot read each other's minds, but they can share experiences with the hive memory and communicate over the hive mind. Furthermore, you get new powers and a financial/political support network.
As for the king, he has "administrative privileges" and would do anything for the good of the hive. From his perspective, the entirety of the hive is his own body. Tell me, can you willingly bite off your own finger for no good reason? Physically, yes, but subconsciously, no. Since the hive has a collective unconscious, the collective feeling of self-preservation is echoed to each of the members. Effectively, it's like having the entirety of your species yell "LIVE!" in your head. The peer pressure would be enormous.
Although, I could see changelings committing suicide for the sake of the hive. Could you make the choice between death today or cutting off your arm and living for several more decades? The hive would make whatever decision would be best for the hive.
As for the "ugly" magic, the way I see it is that every unicorn and changeling in Equestria is capable of causing extreme damage, but ponies are generally to peaceful to even consider it. Generally, I'm a bit more pragmatic with the powers I give my characters. It's funny, the more uses you think of for any tool, the more dangerous and overpowered it seems. (I've always wondered why in Star Trek they never used the transporters to punch holes in enemy ships.)

Texas here. Just got back from a trip, so I had to read all my notifications, and I still have to catch up on season 4.
