Reptilicus

poni should poni poni. so get down. and poni.

T

Twilight and Fluttershy go hiking and get all hot and bothered. Typical trashy shipping stuff goes down. All their friends start coming out as well. Also Celestia nearly dies.

There we go.
I hope that appeases the manchildren that didn't like the previous story description.
Feel free to complain in the comments about how a romance story about horses from a show for children has somehow offended your conservative sensibilities.

I'm going to make a delicious sandwich out of black forest ham.

I'm not sure what is up with the whole comments thing, but this is one of the best stories I've found in a while. So, please continue, if you would like, seeing as you put it as complete for some reason? ( Unless it actually is and that would make me sad with all the potential this has.)
And enjoy your sandwich :)

It's complete, I'm just quickly going through the chapters one last time before I hit the grey 'publish' button.

This is a beautiful story, thank you for posting it.

So far I've only read the story description and already find it hilarious,I'm sure the actually is going to going to be so scrumptious

I'll be honest if there was an [IMG] tag for story descriptions I'd probably throw that right on up there.

I love how you've characterized Discord here. Honestly much better than in canon.

I've heard there's some drama surrounding this story, but honestly I don't care about any of that.

What I care about is how beautifully you've written these characters! In all my years on this site I've never seen someone manage to pull off writing all main six characters flawlessly. Heck, I think I like YOUR Pinkie better than the canon one! So many sub-plots going on, checking up on them every so often, nothing is rushed. Frankly, it's damn near perfect. Bravo!

Also, why in the hell doesn't this have more views?!

This is a really underappreciated story.
Plus I can be, like, a cool hipster guy for liking a story with less than 50 overall votes and all that shit.

I hope you have a cool frothy mug of craft beer and some vinyl records lying around.
These are must-haves for the modern hipster ensemble!

Well, last night I got shitfaced on this really obscure Czech semi-dark IPA and got the brilliant idea to pull the bullets from surplus Bulgarian light ball x54r ammo, salvage the cases and reload them with .311 174gr Sierra MatchKings for shits and giggles, does that count?

that sounds like a fantastic way to spend a night, honestly.

Your stories are horribly underappreciated, i wish i found them sooner.
Adorable, well written and with fairy tale twist, nuff said. :yay:

Its over. It's done. I read the entire story. It was a journey, a journey I would love to take again. This is such a wonderful story. I wish more people knew about this gem. Congratulations on making such a beautiful story

It is without fail. Every time it happens. And so far, this has counted number six. Anytime I read a shipping story between two of the mane six that has more than 10k words there'll always be another pairing. I have yet to come across one any other way.

P.s. Not that that's a bad thing.

Okay, after three straight chapters of this, I really have to commend your treatment of the Everfree. Usually, its treatment is cursory-- the forest is dangerous because it's untamed wilds and there might be a manticore or some other familiar thing that Fluttershy has already dealt with. This, though, uses those as a baseline and extrapolates the concept to everything else.

The barnacle early on functions to indicate this, and let's us know immediately that this place isn't safe, putting the reader on edge. It also shows us how well Fluttershy really knows this place with her casual remark that they're not usually so close. Clearly, she's deep in the forest quite often, to not only catch the telltale signs that it was there but also to know where is and isn't normal to see one.

From there, continuing to use Twilight as the viewpoint, you simultaneously paint a picture of a very competent mare and an exceptionally terrifying forest. Because we mostly only see how she avoids certain things, we have to conclude they're dangerous, but lack the knowledge of why. And just when we might be questioning whether it's really all that bad, you show off the bug swarm or the ghost holes and remind us that we're not in Ponykansas anymore.

It's partly inspired by the short novel Roadside Picnic if you've ever read that.
Where thieves travel through a landscape that's been physically warped by an alien invasion quite some time prior to the books settings.

I have not. Though, reading a stub summary, I've played some of the games it seems to have inspired. "Everfree is The Zone" is perfect.

To be real honest, I wish there was more in that same vein here. A lot of important things happened, but it still feels like the latter half of the story dragged on a bit, and a substantial part of it is the high bar you set with those chapters. After that, you launch into several different stories at once and lose a lot of the focus that, up to that point, was aimed squarely at Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle.

And that's a shame, too; you hit on some good stuff. The relationship between Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo, Pinkie Pie's more serious moments, and coming to terms with Discord all received good treatment. (Sorta neutral on Rarity and Applejack. They sort ended feeling like a bit of an afterthought, even though you built up AJ pining on the hill far in advance.)

Yeah there's actually quite a few games now that take some inspiration from that short novel, even besides the obvious STALKER series, which are far and away the best.
Unfortunately only a very small few of the rest are really good. But at least the Tartovsky film exists and it's quite wonderful even if the world has mostly forgotten about it, like the rest of his films.

Agree with Mare Imbrium concerning your treatment of the Everfree. It is a wonderful bit of world building and does a great job supporting the story, characters and situation.

Another fic that does interesting world building in the Everfree is The Quest for Everfree Enlightenment. It is a Twiluna story, instead of Twishy, and is on a more epic scale (which is appropriate for the story that Amethyst_Crystal is telling, but would be inappropriate here.)

Only up to this chapter so far, but I have to say that this is an amazing story. I've loved every moment of it and the shipping involved. Funny enough, for some reason, I apparently gave this story a dislike long ago. I suppose the story description "if you could really call it that' sounds so much like a 'fuck you!' to the reader that it just made me think this was a crap story that the writer didn't give a care about at all. I guess it's similar to cleaning mud off of what you think is more mud and finding gold beneath.

Looking forward to finding the time to read the rest of this, but I don't have the time sadly to finish this all in one day.

:twilightblush: Fluttershy, I never realized you had such a big, beautiful...
:yay: Yes?...
:twilightblush: ... Vocabulary. Unf!

"I'm going to have to make a list of things to talk about."

Gods, you're gonna make her *so* wet.

5692971 I usually wait until I finished a story before comenting, but this comment is so perfect, it needs a thumb up. MANY thumbs up.

7664440 I really need to get to writing the new one I've had in my thoughts. Thanks!

Once every blue moon Fluttershy got angry. It was a very rare sight. Like seeing a Sass-Squash. Or a ghost. And it was always very frightening. Fluttershy furrowed her brow and gave Angel the most damning look she could. The kind of look that turned one's blood to ice. Every frustration, sorrow, and wrongdoing the yellow mare ever experience were sent hurtling forward in a glance of pure rage that ponies simply called.......THE STARE. Effective on misbehaving animals and misbehaving children!

And all I can see is this scene from Ghost Rider. :rainbowlaugh:
