Of all the girls at CHS, there's one in particular who's caught your eye. Rarity, the proper, well-spoken, and fabulous fashonista. Her poise and mannerisms are so unique and attractive. You'd give anything for a chance to ask her out. But she's way out of your league, and could find someone infinitely better than you.

During a violently stormy school day, you see Rarity fall in a puddle outside in the torrential downpour. You offer help, and perhaps your single act of generosity will make your dreams a reality.

The destination is often what many people know about, but it is often the journey that holds the memories for those involved.

After an encounter with a hated rival during a festival she'd been looking forwards to all year, Rarity learns that sometimes her anger and pride blind her to what -- or rather, who -- is most important.

The air rushed past her ears with a howl, the currents cutting at her skin as she dived towards the earth. An irrepressible smile spread across her face as her mane waved behind her in the wind, only to have the smile wiped away as what awaited her on the ground made itself known.

Rarity, a name that will ring as a topnotch tailor and worker by many. But time doesn't stand still for anypony. For she has reached her final night with love and passion. But even Rarity knows that when it is time to go, you don't need to fight death off. Embrace it as a friend you never had but always wanted to have.

Follow the elder unicorn as she goes through the last night of her life, but also join her on the road to the Great Beyond. The realm where all the souls go to when they pass away and what joys they shall bring to her.

This story is a sequel to Diamonds are a girl's worst enemy

Locked away inside the boundaries of an asylum for the insane, Rarity the gem-huntress has only become a former shell of the mare she was. madness has its full grasp of her and it is not letting go. Months she had been talking to the doctors who try to 'help' her with her condition. They aren't prepared for the mental power the unicorn carries with her. How big are the walls that they have to destroy in order to get to her delicate spirit?

But that very same spirit hungers for freedom. To live the life she wanted to live ever since the accident happened. To live her life the way it was after things got out of control. The crystalline arms forced into a crystalline dress serve as a grim reminder for the doctors. But to Rarity they mean the world. The plans are forged to make an escape out of the place.

An escape that may end up with just more then giving Rarity her freedom. Life gives and takes, as the saying goes. Everypony is said to make a deal with the devil, and he always comes to collect.

When Rarity is being asked to give a fashion show in Canterlot, she can't resist. She has to go no matter what. The only problem happens to be that her friends find it rather fishy and don't want her to go. They know something that has happened to Rarity not too long ago. A thing that the seamstress can't remember herself. A fact they also want to keep that very way. Rarity knowing the answers about the events would be devastating.

Yet old enemies do tend to return at the most unexpected times. Some are blunt, quick to strike and defeated easily. Others, sit out their time. Manipulate those around them in believing they are good. Patience is a virtue, is often said. How long before the final blow can be given when that patience has already ran for a millennium? History tends to repeat itself and nightmares are the most powerful warnings that can be given. Nightmares of the past, preludes to the horrible future to come.

Rarity is one of the most famous gem-hunters in the land of Equestria and therefore perhaps the best choice for a job given by the royals themselves. She is being called in to retrieve a gem from the deepest parts of the Canterlot mines. Together with her team she has to find the thing and bring it back to the surface. That is only the easy part. For usually it are the smaller things that give the bigger trouble.

When a book is also taken from the resting place of the gem, Rarity finds herself changed. Not for the better to say the least. New possibilities as well as horrors have opened themselves for the mare of fashion as she is seen as a monster in her own eyes. The job for the princesses might have been the final job she had ever taken as a gem-huntress before her life takes a new course. A course in the darker arts of the crystalline magic.

Friends become bitter enemies as the gears of time go on and the events turn only from bad to worse. It is said that there is light at the end of a dark tunnel, but what if you can't see that very light?

What can one simple and humble unicorn tailor do when her life suddenly gets turned upside down? That she finds herself as a being that was by many believed to be nothing but folklore of the dark ages and ghost stories to scare the foals? How would the world react to her when she tells that what she has become?

Only one simple answer could be found on the question and that is to live her life in secret for the rest of time. Never reveal that what she has become to anypony, not even to her own family. If things were only ever that simple. For Rarity, the mare of beauty and fashion, is suffering a curse of blood. A curse she had gained without her even wanting it. But two things are more than sure. Neither Rarity nor her boutique will never be the same again.

Can the graceful unicorn withstand the temptations of the night long enough to keep her sanity in one piece, or will she fall from her stand and crumble into the darkness that is her own madness and new nature? Is she strong enough to fight off her the mental demons that haunt her mind? Blood will be spilled and drunk, that is the third certainty that can be given.

When the essence of fear itself knocks on ones door, one can only sink into the madness that is their own mind. The answer to their questions might not be something they are willing to face, but they have to, no matter what. Though little do they know that the new terror that struck the land of Equestria, was somepony they knew very well. The frightful beauty that is nopony else than the dangerous Nightmare Rarity has been released over Equestria. With her, fear can dominate the land.
