Well, that was an awesome chapter from start to finish!
That opening scene was just as chilling to read as it was beautifully written, and that last part, oh gosh – I had a big smile on my face all throughout!
I have my suspicions about what's the deal with those composition books... Though if I'm right, now I wonder just how they adapted or reverse-engineered that piece of Equestrian magic. Maybe they didn't, and just stole them from their rightful owners.
Oh, and they're made of 50% hydroxyapatite! Try for the teeth next, the ratio is closer to 95%!
Huzzah! The Luna has arrived! Just in time too! Cmon berry! You can do it! Get your spirit back!
And Ruby being a little badflank, nice to see her making her mother proud with her newfound magic. And Nathan! Mixed thoughts...but just another good person who made bad decisions, glad to see he’s finally coming around. Also...with the dealer...did they just call one of their crew a pony name? Why was Cloud Kicker so unconcerned? Somethings still ahoof....
I haven't even started the chapture yet, just getting past the part where Luna showed in her dream. I have tears of relief and joy. You really are a talented writer. O felt the hoplessness of being lost, and the increadable joy of having been saved. Good descriptions and great job putting the reader in the story.
I'll add to this as I read and see fir.
Okay, I just finished the chapter. Ehat a rush of emotion. I'm going to have to kick those onion cutting ninjas out again (watch Equestron's "Right/Wrong" shows to get that reference). Yeah, Ruby! Althigh, seems a bit like Katara in "Avatar: The Last Air Bender" and bloiod bending. Makes me a little scared of and for Ruby. I hope this was just a case of desperation, and not a sign of her psyche ctacking. Holding power over people (or ponies) like that can turn into something menical (sp?).
If ut takes you this long to give a chapter this good, it is well worth the wait. Keep up the good work.
I finally decided to make my first comment on the website. (But to remain silent is so alluring...)

Indeed this chapter ended in a very pleasant way!
Easing a bit of the pain of the last few chapters...I thought similarly about the composition notebooks, although their exact nature has not been clarified yet. Something to look forward to in the coming chapters? :)

Hm... If you were referring to Ants, I thought that might be a nickname for a name like "Anthony", although any interpretation is valid (unless we happen to learn more about Ants). If that was indeed Ants that you were referring to, I find it fascinating that we had wholly different interpretations there! And Cloud Kicker's lack of concern... perhaps she just had faith in Berry, and confidence that Berry would come to her rescue? Difficult to say...
It can be uncomfortable to see someone being influenced in bad ways by predatory people. I am glad that Nathan seems to have broken away from them. I have seen many instances of manipulators like that before...

I thought that part about Ruby was very insightful! Indeed, seeing someone wielding such power others can be scary. Often, the distinction between what one could consider reasonable and abuse/manipulation is not very clear (and this is very true in every part of life). But I am sure Hyreia will explore this further! :)

I have faith. The way addiction is being handled is satisfiing, and fits the narrative very well. I love how (what we now know as the stain, and not Discord himself) convinsed Berry to just give in and subcome to the wood alcohol.
I expect that Ruby's power will be habdled much the same way, in that there will be limits on what she can do, and who she can effect (or is that affect). Either by limits of her power, morale limits, or someone she looks up to (like Berry) guiding her to an ethical use.
This is really going further tan a fanfic, and becoming a actual story with MLP FIM characters. I find it exciting and worthy of dicussion.

It does remind me of my own unconscious negative thoughts and feelings, and the sorts of things I often 'think' to myself. While I have not struggled with addiction generally, I have at times had urges to self-destructive behaviours. Some of the situation with the 'stain' and Berry being convinced to drink the methanol reminds me of experiences some have with schizophrenia (though not all may experience things like this), but I think it is important to remember that similar experiences are common to many of us.
Ruby will definitely need to reckon with her abilities, and her own sense of morality regarding that power, eventually. I think it has implications for her relationships with others around her (especially her mother and her friends) as well. I am eager to see what Ruby learns, and what she has to teach us. :)
(Oh, and affect, if you mean 'to change or influence'. )
I very much agree! I actually have very little experience with both the show and the fandom (and have not read the original Five Score Divided by Four story, but may eventually), and I find that it stands well on its own just as it works together with other works that it is connected to. I really appreciate the care that Hyreia has put into every part of this. <3
Quite a rollercoaster between how dark the last chapters got, and then Luna and Ruby showing up to help Berry out. Lots of action, and it seems like Berry can finally start to heal now that the remnants of Discord's magic are gone.
You've done such a good job making their journey interesting. Can't wait to see what the next obstacle to overcome is. Hopefully it's helping Cloud Kicker out. You seem to have put all the best background characters into one story.
The description of Luna is just flat out amazing. You really managed to convey the horrifying awe of meeting a literal goddess. And such a good summary to it as well, "Impossibly beautiful and utterly terrifying". Chef's kiss!
