More important, essential, and interesting discussions! Our ponies are getting to know themselves, see what's changed, what remains... Ruby is still Berry's rock (or is that gem?), and it's certainly through their mutual love that the mare will eventually get better. It's sad to see how indifferent she is to herself, how little self-esteem and self-love she has, but it's understandable considering all she went through in (probably) both lives. Berry already took the first little hoofsteps in the right direction, I hope she'll find the strength in herself and others to keep on going! Sooner or later, like Carrot suggested, her friends may need her to stand strong for them all... I worry that Minuette's smiling façade may start to crumble even further, depending on how things go between her and her human relatives.
Great new chapter for a great story, and I can't wait to see more!
Berry sure is having a rough go of it...but it’s good to see them working through this properly this time with friends. I’m excited to see this story going again and being able to see how all the characters grow. Always so heartwarming to have a mother daughter relationship playing out so cutely.
Sorry I haven't commented in a bit, still here though!
Overall, this is very entertaining and heartwarming seeing some kind of uptick for our drunken protagonist.
To start off, the realization of going from a brother-sister relationship to a mother-daughter relationship was a great moment, it was demonstrated in a fashion that sort of makes you feel for both sides of it. The incredible amount of emotions Ruby felt, to the eye-opening effect it had on Berry, it was executed well, and was surprisingly unawkward in it's interpretation, I feel like a lot of people would fuck that up usually. I mean, it inevitably is awkward for someone, but it didn't feel awkward for the reader to read, which is most important.
Carrot is great, too. The harassingly good-mannered friend. Aggressive kindness, if you will.
Lastly, I never realized the importance of pro-nouns myself until recently, and that discussion was a great way to process it for the character. Well done! On we go.
I adore that you gave this weight and time to discussion of sexuality and identity like this, and written well enough that it didn't feel like checking it off a list. I love the original Five Score, but the fact that it was written so long ago (seriously, it still baffles me that such a big story was written when only a third of the show was out) means it's missing some of the nuance we now know these things would probably entail. I'm a trans person, and you portray the confusion over pronouns and identity very well.

Aww. Thank you! One of the issues going into this fic was the character's issues run deep. I know identity and addiction aren't things you can settle in 22 minutes or even two weeks. So I had to find ways to show progress! Same reason why I only had one character swap biological sexes from the early cast. I wanted to keep it focused.
It always pleases me when ponies approve!
Making Lovecraft proud, Berry!
