It's interesting he blames it all on Daring Doo while so far to me she only did the right thing, so Caballeron is a character blinded by rage that he wraps reality in his mind so much so that it best suits himself?
8053885 While she did do the right thing you have to look at this from Caballeron's side. Who told him of the possibility that Pawtlpotl might not be Pawtlpotl? Who was the pony who translated the slabs? Who could gain from Pawtlpotl not being the real thing? To Caballeron it's Daring Doo. The young, daring newbie who told him about the possibility of Silty's find not being the real thing.
Does this make him right? Far from it, in fact. He's blinded by rage, grief, and a desire for vengeance against the one he loved and her legacy. It's quite obvious that he believes it was Daring, but I honestly don't believe that. It was probably Director Colarse, who brought the evidence forward in the first place. Yet, even with him being the most likely culprit, Caballeron looks to who he believes is the cause of it.
Now, there is also the possibility that he's not entirely on board with it himself. This can be seen with "Silty", who looks deathly as he decides upon either "Boomer" (his rage and desire for vengeance at any cost) or Silty (forgiving Daring for something she didn't do and moving on). It's honestly something that makes you think about what grief can and will do to a person.
Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that Caballeron is definitely in the wrong but he doesn't it that way. He sees himself as avenging Silty and bringing the person who slandered her legacy to "justice".
