(This story is sci-fi, and somewhat different to regular FIM stories.)
Aneki's world was small. It was spherical, and it only took a day to gallop from one side to the other. She had been taught nothing existed outside the sphere, but she wasn't so sure about that. Perhaps her world was a bottle, a container in which ponies had fled to live. A time would come when she gained the opportunity to investigate these things first hoof, if she lived that long.

psy·cho·pomp - ˈsīkōˌpämp - noun: (in Greek mythology) a guide of souls to the place of the dead.

Luna and Twilight have a conversation at a crucial juncture in Twilight's life. Celestia and Applejack discuss it after the fact.

A story about moving on, the recurrence of things in eternity, awkwardness, and friendship.

Special thanks to Nyerguds, Cynewulf, and Lord Destrustor for pitching in on spotting my messes, and to my longtime friends who push me to improve.

This story is a sequel to The Queen and I, Book 2: People and Problems

Chrysalis had always been taught that a leader should push forward; no matter the setback, no matter the defeat, a strong leader rallies their subjects. They do this because their subjects are helpless without them; without guidance and inspiration, society would fail, and it is that threat which motivates a leader to greatness.

What, then, should be done when a society moves on, no longer needing their leader? What should a leader do if they've become more of a burden than a boon to their own people?

Perhaps how they answer that question is the real measure of a leader's worth.

Special thanks to the following:

SoloBrony, for being who he is.

CarcinoGeneticist, for his charitable contribution cleaning up the grammar.

Nadnerb who along with Solobrony convinced me to work toward publishing this stuff, even when I didn't want to.

And Skeeter the Lurker, Tourquillian, Nyerguds, and Prane for arguing in the Gdoc about what worked and what didn't.

The catalyst for, but not part of, The Shelf Cleaning Intiative

Necromancy gets a bad rep.

Oh, sure, some ponies like the whole cliche of the evil zombie master, pulling his puppet strings to make corpses dance and kill for their amusement. And yeah, you kinda do have to work with dead bodies a lot, and most ponies find that a bit creepy. Oh, and you learn a lot of spells to kill things and gain power from it.

But, come on, that doesn't mean all necromancers are bad... right?
