Finally, after much convincing, Rainbow allows her sons to sign on an exchange student-like program, where they will spend a school year in Ponyville.

How will her sons, raised in the Empire and can't even speak equish that well, react to the culture and way of life of the small Equestrian town? Better yet, how will her former friends and their families react to them?

Equestria is not what you think. The legends from the time before Celestia and Luna's harmonious rule seem all but forgotten now in the hearts and minds of ponykind. Many of these technicolour citizens are comfortable in the ignorant life they live. They etch out an existence with little more then a mark on their flank to guide their path. Some of them even experience the magic of friendship, unaware of how obliviously numb they are to the dark world the exists beneath the surface. These ponies are the lucky ones, fated to be born, to live, and to die without catching so much as a glimpse of the insidious horror that dwells in the dark corners of their fair country. This however is a story of those who were not as lucky.

After Scootaloo goes missing, the ponies of Ponyville find the idyllic world they knew before slipping away. As the mystery grows and friendships are tested, the mane six are plunged into a world of darkness from which there is no escape.

Different decisions can change so many things about the future. How do you know what the right decision is? How do you know what you are doing is for the better? What if something so drastic happened that your whole life changed in an instant. You have less than five seconds to act, and you have no time to think about what you need to do. How are you supposed to make the right decision based on so little time? Even after it's happened, it's impossible to know what would have happened if you made a different one.

When Twilight Sparkle woke up from a coma, she had amnesia and was unable to remember anything save for her name. She couldn't even recall Rainbow Dash, who was the first pony to welcome her back to the world. While upset by Twilight's inability to remember her, Rainbow Dash made an oath; to help Twilight move on from her shattered past and look forward to the future, and make the most of their situation.

Now back in Ponyville, and with the knowledge that they were once very close, Twilight is trusting Rainbow Dash to be her guide as they begin their life in Ponyville anew. The road won't be easy, but with friends like this, what does Twilight have to fear?
