8: Thunder Storm
The four S Rank Hunters decided that it was best to investigate the events in Dynasty first, as it posed the most immediate threat to the most civilians. As such, the four were beamed into the high streets of the city on Sirius model Ride Chasers to locate the devices that were causing the power drain and whatever Maverick was controlling them, and deal with the situation as circumstances dictated.
They weren't even there for more than a few moments before they picked up the high level Reploid that was causing problems, rampaging through the city and breaking things to drain the power. It appeared at first glance to be UFO shaped, painted in many colors. As it passed the group, it opened fire.
"Counter attack!" X ordered, and all four of them shifted in the skyway to advantageous positions before opening fire with the Ride Chasers' energy cannons. "Force it to land!"
The UFO continued to fight back, both with claw-like prongs at the end of electrical projections and by releasing various energy constructs. However, the Hunters were experienced enough to evade them, and before long it had taken enough damage to be forced to land on a flying platform amongst the city towers. As the four Hunters approached the platform, they leapt off their Ride Chasers and onto the platform.
"I have identified the subject," CiCi told the group through the comms. "He is Gigabolt Man-O-War, an energy harvesting and delivering specialist. He's actually on the staff there to supply energy to the city."
"Gigabolt!" X called out. "Why are you taking energy from the city? Your job is to provide energy!"
"Are you trying to destroy the city?" Zero demanded angrily.
Gigabolt Man-O-War gave no response.
"Sigma must have disabled his speech centers when he took control of him," Axl growled angrily. "We've got no-"
"No one is controlling me," Gigabolt responded in a high, piping voice. "Who are you?"
"S Rank Maverick Hunters!" Octavia identified. "X, Zero, Axl, and Octavia. If no one is controlling you, why are you draining energy from the city?"
"My Master needs power for the new world," Gigabolt explained simply. "How is that wrong? How is that Maverick?"
"You are pursuing the wants or desires of the individual counter to the laws of society and to the detriment of civilization," Axl pointed out. "By definition, this is Maverick, criminal behavior."
"I...I don't understand..." Gigabolt spoke up. "Master says...Maverick Hunters are the bad guys...and you attacked me-"
"You attacked first," X pointed out, lowering his buster. "Come to base. Assist in our investigations. Find out the truth."
Gigabolt said nothing for a long time. "...no!" he snapped out angrily. "We New-Gen Reploids will not be pawns to the old world-" His entire body jerked. "What..." In a blaze of light, he exploded.
As the explosion faded, Octavia lowered her buster. "He made his choice," she said sadly. "And thus, took our choices away. We have to preserve this world."
"How'd you take him out in one shot?" Zero asked curiously.
"While we were pursuing him through the city, I focused all my shots on the same point on his armor," Octavia explained. "It gave me a clear shot to his primary power core." Her eyes stared into the distance, steely and cold. "...let's move."
The destruction of Gigabolt provided enough data with which to synthesize subweapons for the group once they'd returned to base. X and Octavia got the Thunder Dancer, which projected a blast of lightning forward. Zero acquired the Raikousen technique for his Beam Saber. Axl got the Plasma Gun sidearm. With those in tow, the group made their way to the Antarctic base Central White, on the assumption that an electrical weapon would prove useful amongst the ice and snow. Beyond that, the facility - intended to research the environment - had been set to alter weather patterns in the Antarctic, which ran the risk of triggering an Ice Age.
The group was once again sent in with Ride Chasers to reach the base, modified for snow and ice travel, and equipped with an energy arc weapon that was more efficient for the environment. This enabled them to rapidly progress across a long winding snow-covered path, blasting everything that got in their way until they reached the base.
Once at the base, CiCi contacted them. "I've managed to identify the Reploid causing problems," she explained. "It's Avalanche Yeti, one of the Reploids in charge of the base. He's designed for deep cold maneuvering, and can utilize it as a weapon. His systems are vulnerable to high intensity electric shocks, however."
"Good thing we're prepared for that," Octavia murmured as they entered the base.
As they entered the base, they fell into waist deep snow...which promptly left Octavia completely buried. Avalanche Yeti soon leapt out, looking like someone had taken a snow man and turned it into a giant power suit, complete with festive coloration. Yeti's eyes became visible just over his carrot-shaped nose under the white helmet.
"We New-Gen Reploids will build a new, ideal world!" he insisted angrily. "Once this old, flawed world has been cleansed!"
Octavia frowned deeply. "Looks like I was right to be suspicious of this program," she growled, as the four readied their electric-based weapons.
"Take him down!" X ordered firmly.
Avalanche Yeti blinked. "Wait, what-" He flinched back as all four of them hit him with their blasts, nearly overloading their systems. "You're...you're supposed to try diplomacy first. That's what he said. That's what heroes do..."
"This world you're trying to destroy is the world our kids are inheriting," Zero stated flatly as he leapt over Yeti. "We're parents first, heroes later!" With that, he brought his saber down, the momentum of his leap making his blade shear through Yeti's neck, decapitating him and causing him to explode.
With his destruction, the group downloaded new weapon programs. The Drift Diamond for X and Octavia, which launched sprays of ice. The Hyouryuushou for Zero, which applied ice energy to his saber for a rising spinning slash. An Ice Gatling weapon for Axl. With the weapons acquired, the group returned to base.

Jesus, no mercy at all. I mean, I understand perfectly, but holy hells do they not pull any punches at all once the Mavericks have refused to surrender. Though Octavia is right; they made their choice, they were going to stick by it, and thus the Hunters had a duty to perform.

Ya know if I was sigma I would probably start by manipulating media at this point. A few well placed cameras and you could force the hunters into a very bad decision. I think I'm thinking too much like a villain right now but the words typed above I can see how this could go badly for the maverick hunters and lead into the events of command mission.

Somebody get Dynamo! These guys may have made their choice but Gigabolt seemed confused while Yeti sounded like he would rather switch sides. They never gave him the chance to switch. Potentially innocent oil has been spilled on the snow.

Oh wow, a shocking development has taken place. A dude who was in such a position that he posed no threat to anyone, so a pony did something dumb about it. I am so surprised you guys, you have no idea. There are so many different layers to unravel, it's unbelievable.
"We're totally the good guys, you guys! They're making bad decisions, so that gives us the right to make worse ones!"
Yeah, I dunno about you, but if the guy is restrained enough that you could just take him out instantly at any time, you should've just incapacitated him, or at least left him intact enough so that you could learn to deal with this "New-Gen Uprising".
But whatever, Sigma is trying to get to the moon, so you have to be trigger-happy to speed things along, right?

Okay this is my third reread and third time seeing this comment and while I can just ignore the other ones you make this one annoys me too much
Gigabolt's activity was a threat to the civilians in Dynasty not only for the risks to the area caused by him draining energy but because he was causing the mechannoids to go berserk to keep any hunter busy while he did his job and possibly to intentionally hunt down and destroy any traces of the 'broken old world'
And while yes a lot of the new-gens aren't fully there mentally, it's possible that at best they were raised badly by Sigma or-since several factors make it unlikely he 'sired' them the same way X and Zero did their kids-he intentionally built them so they're fully dependent on him and part of that was their childlike mentality since other reploids seem to get built with older mentalities...mostly
Gigabolt was given a choice to surrender after already attacking the hunters and he chose to continue his maverick behaviour and since him being there is what seemingly keeps the mechannoids attacking the city, his immediate termination would save more civilians
Also for someone on a pony centric website you sure have an odd hatred for the pony character in the crossover fic
