A mysterious series of storms have been rolling through the desert settlements of the Equestrian south. Every time a storm passes a town, the population decreases slightly. According to eyewitnesses, these storms are alive. Small black tendrils of clouds slither out of the dark fog that rolls over the towns and latches onto ponies. Once they're dragged within its embrace, they disappear. So far, no victims have been heard from. Princess Celestia sends one of her best investigators from the Equestrian Royal Guard to find out what is going on. With the help of a local time keeper, a musician, and a traveling petrologist, he will set about trying to stop these storms before everypony is dragged away into the abyss.
Some events depicted in show episodes may be referenced. However, the events portrayed in Episodes 25 and 26, Twilight's Kingdom Part 1 and 2 will not be mentioned. In essence, this story, and the universe it and my other stories take place in, occur between Season 4 Episode 24 and 25.

I don't know if this was a reference but Minuette said her boss's name was Chronos. Isn't that the name of a Greek god/titan of time and her boss works with time. Poor Lyra! This is off to an excellent start so far!

You actually described everything very well, the fill up guy and his bar were expertly designed to give a rough an tumble desert town that is very bland exept for the supernatural things happening that is spicing it up, overall you did a good job dude. Good job

4346101 Yes, Chronos is the Greek personification of time; a the god of time. I hadn't originally named him after the god specifically, I just named him that because like you said, Chronos is time.
4347422 And it's comments like these that I appreciate the most; the ones that provide a good critique of the story itself and also get me to thinking.
It's funny you mention Dr. Whooves; I've just recently begun watching the Doctor Who series. So whether or not Dr. Whooves will make an appearance... I don't know. You mentioned it and I immediately thought that he could be Chronos, but that'd negate the already exiting meta-cannon that surrounds Doctor Whooves. That and Dr. Whooves and Minuette have the same cutie mark. if I figure out a good way, I'll probably give him a cameo appearance.
I knew this would come up eventually. I'm trying to write this so that anyone can come aboard and read it without having to read my other stories. But it's tricky since it still occurs within the Broken Feathers universe. I'll probably give subtle hints to things that have happened in previous stories, like the news paper article, mention of team mates, flashbacks, stuff like that. I had envisioned a scene where Phantom is sitting and writing a letter when somepony comes up and talks to him. Now, whether or not he's writing that letter to Rainbow Dash is your call. As for whether or not Rainbow Dash will appear... I'm not sure, honestly... Making an early prediction, I would say that it would be an end-game type thing if she did. Especially since she would have to be appearing with the Elements of Harmony.
That's what I was going for, so thanks! I actually had some things happen by accident. I'm using this image to help describe Applelossa, and I just randomly picked that blue two story building for the saloon. When I went and watched Season 1 Episode 21, where they go to Appleloosa, it turns out that that actually is a saloon and the bar pony there is actually gray. So that worked out.

B) The things in Savage Skies are Thunderheads, and are large thunderhead clouds that discharge a lightning bolt and destroys everything under it, not ponynapping ponies. From what I understand, at least.

Ooo! This storm is really creepy! Aww Quill was so cute and I feel sorry for her. Hmmm I caught some Broken Feather references in there. He he. That idea about Queen Nevei and the changelings back story sounds interesting since I've been wondering heaps about what happened with them. I admit I would like to see some of Dashie's thoughts about the 'disappearance' because I'm betting she'll try to chase after(forgive me if my memory about what's happened is messed up) but you already said she probably wouldn't be part of this. Plus I think she might distract me away from what's going on in the main storyline. Sorry I haven't commented in ages! Been pretty busy with other stories, real life stuff etc. you know the deal. Love this so far and keep up the amazing work!
4668074 Oh don't worry, it's perfectly understandable. I've been pretty busy lately, too. My work has turned me essentially nocturnal, and the only time I have to write now is usually at work, assuming I'm not busy with whiny little inmates. In the past few weeks, I've only managed to write less than 5k words on Nevei's fall AND Desert Storm combined...
I'm just happy to see that there's still interest in the story!
5640044 I finally decided on it a few days ago. I simply have too much on my writing plate. I was at the time trying to write three stories at the time so I had to make cuts, and opted to continue work on my newest feature that's doing better than most of my stories did when they started. Even with just one story now I'm finding less time and motivation to work on it. Due to recent developments I have less time, which I'll cover in a soon-to-be-posted blog.
I may continue work on this and the other cancelled story at a further date, but not just yet.
My apologies for the inconvenience, and I do hope to continue work on this project.

Active Duty military working 10 plus hour days getting little to no sleep is taking its toll. I'll try to get some in this weekend since I don't have much planned and my family's off doing stuff.
