Heh. He's a doctor. But thanks for the comment!

That's something that is going to be corrected in an edit pass. It's only the prologue, and that was when I first started writing this. So rest assured, the rest of the story is not like this.
I would quote Ackbar but I won't. Still, it's always those you never suspect to be a baddie, I'm sort of glad you killed off Dusk Blue, the wasteland already has enough power hungry individuals running about.
No offense, but I think Star is right. It may not ultimately be her fault, but she bears some responsibility in this. There's no getting out of that and if she doesn't feel remorse over his death at some level, then there's something wrong. She chose to free Discord, even if she perceived it to be the lesser of two evils. As a result of the shenanigans that followed, Dusk suffered and died. It'd be nice if you could have explained a bit more about him, as this seems to treat him as a throw-away character in a way. He's just there to be the mad, crazy dude and we aren't really told anything that would make us think that about him (hence the moment where: a spell bomb?! wth?!). Life Bloom also feels kind of flat, not to mention a bit pushy.
It's pretty anti-climactic that Star has just the right weapon to break an 'unbreakable' amulet.

Oh, absolutely! This is something that Star is going to be mulling over for some time. Absolutely is. She's definitely responsible for Discord, and she knows it.
As far as Dusk Blue is concerned, the position that he is in as one of the ponies responsible for Star's current state definitely means we're not done with him, even though he is dead. There will be some more exposition into that, trust me there.
Life Bloom... yes. I can see that. If I use him again in the future, I will remember that. Thanks!
And yes.... Stargazer has been proven to harm beings such as Discord. It's a little silly, but having the Amulet blow up in their faces because of it seemed a lot better than having it simply be destroyed. Additionally, canon never really says that the Amulet is "unbreakable", just that it can't be removed except by its wearer. I believe though that the Amulet would be resistant at least to simple attempts (smashing with a hoof, for example).
I'm sure there are other powerful items that could destroy the amulet, Stargazer just being one of those. I wasn't trying to imply that Star actually knew that Stargazer would do the job, in fact she was too frustrated with the fact that she couldn't just smash it to think about that.
Again, thank you for your continued readership and the feedback. It's what it's all about after all, and it was excellent feedback at that, which is what I'm always looking for.
Thanks again!

Most magical artifacts would probably be secured against any physical damage just so all the hard work wouldn't be destroyed in an instant. So it shouldn't be susceptible to the most damage a pony can cause directly to it nor be bother by most normal phenomena (fires, lightning, earthquake, and so on). I expect that if a real alicorn or maybe Twilight Sparkle (Element of Magic...) actually used it they might overload it and destroy the spellwork or the physical piece. Stargazer's ability to hurt alicorns and discord is a bit bothersome in general just because it seems to break a lot of supposed rules. It's acceptable, but irritating. Especially since handwaving is all you can really do about it. If the amulet were destroyable by easy magic, even alicorn magic, it would have been destroyed well before now.
Dang it

Eh? What do you mean?
Patch is the second best charecter in this
3199317 Id almost agree with you, but stargazer is a product of Luna and who knows how many minds put together to fight chaos gods and who knows what else. It isn't simple magic at all, especially considering it is mad of a toxic space metal.
