Long ago two alicorn Sisters ruled Equestria. One controlled the sun, the other the stars. It has been 1000 years since the younger sister was banished to moon after becoming Deepened Dusk. Now Starswirl, gifted unicorn and prized pupil of Princess Sunset Shimmer, believes that Deepened Dusk will return to seek revenge on Equestria. The only thing that can stop her are the Elements of Harmony, but they have been lost to time. Will she be able to find them in time with her new friends?

Amethyst Star (also known as Sparkler) is a unicorn who lives in Ponyville. She's the librarian for the Golden Oaks Library, and loves to read. But when there's a huge threat to Equestria and she knows how to stop it, she isn't just going to sit idly by.

Amethyst needs to make sure the planning for the thousandth Summer Sun Celebration goes by perfectly. After all, they do call her the best organizer in all of Ponyville for a reason. But when things go horribly wrong and Nightmare Moon returns, she needs to find the Elements of Harmony and somehow harness their power against the evil alicorn. But Amethyst isn't alone on her quest for the Elements, as five other ponies are coming with her.

Of course Rainbow Dash would have saved Fluttershy if she knew her friend had fallen off that cloud during the pegasus race. But was doing the right thing the wrong thing? Has Rainbow Dash doomed all Equestria to eternal night by being herself?

Sunset Shimmer is Princess Celestia's most faithful student, and an incredibly powerful unicorn. She has her own room in the castle, her own assistant, who happens to be a dragon she hatched during her school exams, a large room for practicing new spells, and a huge library of books. The only thing Sunset lacks is friends.

After reading the signs of Nightmare Moon's return, Princess Celestia decides that her student is ready to embrace her destiny, but needs to make friends first. Princess Celestia sends Sunset Shimmer to a small town called Ponyville, where she meets an odd assortment of ponies who end up becoming her friends and helping her find the Elements and bring about the Summer Sun Celebration she'd wanted for so long.

Once upon a time in the magical land of Equestria...

That's how these stories usually start, but in a world where heroes of legend fell to corruption that once great nation is no more, and now only lingering divided remnants exist in its stead.

Enter Adagio Dazzle, a young and ambitious noble eager to prove herself and what better way to do so then by hosting the annual memorial festival. Unfortunately this year's commemoration is to be held in Ponyville where she must contend with an overzealous political extremist, an insane chef, a belligerent team of forest rangers, and an uncooperative weather patrol.

To make matters worst within the nearby untamed wilds of the Everfree Forest a storm is brewing. Not just any storm, but a herald of ancient evils soon to return.

For as the old saying goes, when it rains....it pours.

Twilight was always fated to be the savior of Equestria, along with her friends. But fate can be so easily altered. What happens in one alternate realm when instead of marrying a unicorn, Twilight's mother had instead married an earth pony, resulting in her daughter being hornless? Nightmare Moon, the personal student to the good King Sombra, learns about the return of the dreaded Eternal Twilight. When she tries to warn him, he sends the young alicorn and her dragon assistant Smog, to a small town where she is to supervise the preparations for the Crystal Heart Celebration.

There she befriends five individuals: Sunset Shimmer, Gilda, Trixie, Chrysalis, and Discord. Together they redeem Eternal Twilight and turn her back into the kind Princess Sparkle. And it looks like things will be fine from then on...

But no prophecy could prepare Nightmare for what challenges await. Powerful foes will seek to break apart her new friendship. And an enemy that Nightmare knows nothing about seeks to obtain the revenge she has been plotting for years.

Will the magic of forgiveness and the power of friendship triumph?
