But she’s in love, and as logical as she tries to be, she can’t handle a human version of herself being around her girlfriend Sunset all of the times she can’t be.

After the gala, things return to normal quickly. Yet it seems like there are some things that need to be talked out.

Twilight faces the thought of immortality with her usual aplomb: falling down into a ball of misery and confusion about her role, and what she will do in the eventual absence of her friends and family.

That is, until a much older Twilight Sparkle takes the time to talk to her.

There are a lot of relics, artifacts, and other ancient items of power strewn throughout the world. I should know; I've found safe homes for a lot of them, and even destroyed a few. A good rule of hoof is that the older it is, the more powerful it is. Not because it's old, but because it's survived that long, either because of its own toughness or the defenses its creators put around it.

The Weapon of the Ancients predates written language. Ahuizotl wants it for himself. I can't let that happen.

Starlight Glimmer's defeat at the hooves of Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends leaves the mare wandering the caverns and mountains, escaping from her failure of creating the perfect society.

And yet there is somepony she cannot run away from. Somepony who keeps her awake at night, who follows her no matter where she is headed, who does not want to leave her alone despite her best efforts.

Herself.

Short Quill is not happy.

He has just written what he considers to be the short story he has put the most effort into and now he can't get it published. It was meant to go into a weekly leaflet of short stories known all across Equestria, but the publisher believes it doesn't meet the specific taste of readers and wants it rewritten to be more orientated about the princesses. This is the first and possibly only chance for him to become known outside of Manehatten and one way or the other he's going to get it in the paper.

Even if he has to come up with something he absolutely loathes.

Pinkie Pie loves Twilight, and she'll always do her best to make her happy.

Even if that means sacrificing her own happiness in the process.

Rainbow Dash walks in on Twilight pondering her existence.

It's not everyday that Twilight learns that Rainbow Dash is a fraudulently licensed ordained minister who presides over the funerals in Ponyville. Her friend makes every excuse in the book on how she got the job but that doesn't explain why she keeps on doing or why she does it wrong! There's a certain way a pony is supposed to have a funeral and Twilight can't ignore the blatant violations and disrespect everywhere.

Maybe if Twilight could open her ears, she could learn that there's something worth listening to after all. But Rainbow Dash isn't making it easy, she's not a preacher.

She's more of a reaping kind of minister.
