Ragnar Hallowshield is a Dwarven paladin that loves to explore, go on adventures, and kick the crap out of stuff. He's also some guy's Dungeons and Dragons character. The player is your average D&D player--doesn't care about the storyline, focuses on nothing but treasure and combat, the works.

But things get strange for Ragnar when he falls into a magical trap. He's whisked away to parts unknown, and rather than try to get him to rejoin the party, the player just decides to make a new character. Ragnar's only level 1, after all, so it wasn't exactly a big loss.

Ragnar is far from lost, however. He's ended up in a strange, colorful land...full of nothing but mounts.

NOTE: This story isn't going to take itself too seriously, and the update schedule is probably going to be very sporadic. The main reason I'm writing it at all is because I have a lot of light-hearted, slice of life ideas floating around in my brain, and I'd like to get them down on paper somewhere. The time frame is after the Season 4 finale, but the library is still around, warranting the AU tag. Keep all of this in mind if you plan on following.

ANOTHER NOTE: I don't know why I didn't mention this before, but every battle scene in this story is decided by actual dice rolls! The outcome of the fights is just as much of a mystery to you as it is to me. Hopefully this adds a new kind of excitement, both for you as you read and me as I write. Please enjoy!

Everything changes for Twilight Sparkle and her friends when a mysterious extraterrestrial ship crash lands in Equestria. When Twilight messes around in the ship's systems with her magic, she ends up transported to an alien world unlike anything she imagined: a box canyon in the middle of nowhere.

To get home, Twilight must enlist the help of the eccentric Red and Blue soldiers that live there... if she can get them to stop bickering first! Additionally, she finds herself being pursued by the enigmatic military agency known only as Project Freelancer. Back in Equestria, all is not well for Twilight's friends as forces involved with the crashed ship make themselves known. Reds, Blues and ponies will all have to work together to discover the mysterious connection between Equestria and Project Freelancer.

A crossover with Red vs Blue. Written with the intention for the story to be followable without having watched the series. (just don't expect to get all the references).

This story is written such that one does not need to have read Rites of Ascension beforehand to understand and enjoy it. However, one should know a few quick, easy things going in. First, Season Three and later do not exist in the Rites timeline, and second, Cadence is a winged unicorn rather than alicorn. Also, I'm aware the comics tackled this topic, but this is in my own AU, and I first wrote this more than a year ago. Consider this an alternate take on the idea. Other than that, you should be able to dive in with no problems.

That having being said, as this is a canon story in the Rites of Ascension Expanded Universe, reading the main story will make this one even more enjoyable.

Against better judgement, David buys his daughter a pony for Christmas. Too bad it was Diamond Tiara. She, like many other fillies and colts in Ponyville, was taken by Discord for his cross-dimension pony trade. Now she must convince David and his family to help her and the others get back to Equestria. Fortunately for her, David is more than happy to get rid of her. His daughter Tiffany however, is not.

Back in Tartarus after his latest defeat, Tirek is cursed to spend countless years within the worst prison imaginable. Luckily for him, Discord is here to change that. With the magic of friendship and board games, Discord becomes Tirek's new roommate, and thus his newest thorn in the side as well in a bid to reform him.

Now Tirek's imagination is stretched to its limit with just how horrible Tartarus can really become.

The princesses gave their magic to Twilight to prevent Tirek from stealing it. As a result, they end up stuck in Tartarus.

Marvelous place, Tartarus. Really brings ponies together. The fact that things manage to go downhill here says a lot about the wonders of family and alicornhood.
