An indirect reference to optimism... nicceee.
I wonder if the rest of the hippogriffs will come looking for them, either with a rifle or an apology.
Dim, you really shouldn't offer people bottles of wine if you don't expect them to drink them.
Oh, I know the feeling, Blackbird. I know the feeling.
Dim, she's so upset that she welcomes the mental and emotional relief of temporarily drowning her thoughts in drink. That's what's going on here. And she feels safe with you and the other friends she's made.
All the safer because of your displayed willingness to fight to protect her.
Why is the wine gone!
... and Blackbird's worst nightmare about them just became real.
They are seriously underestimating both Blackbird and her friends. Even if Blackbird was alone and they were able to overcome her, keeping Blackbird as a sex/breeding slave would not be a safe hobby -- she would be bound to eventually get her hands on a weapon and seek revenge.
But Blackbird sure as hell wouldn't have enjoyed what would have happened in between.
Hey, Dim warned them. He's actually being nicer than he used to be.
It's hardly Dim's fault that Garrulous had his head too far up his own butt with his master-race delusion that Garrulous wasn't paying attention to the implications of what Dim said. Or the heavily-armed and obviously-expert nature of Dim's companions.
I think I've seen this part in a movie. Probably a Western, and it was probably whiskey, but I don't remember the title.
Giselle's death is a very dark scene, and a very good Deconstruction of the power-fantasy action-adventure where the heroes slaughter the wicked villains and it's just plain fun.
All the worse for me because I know enough French that I got most of Giselle's dying declaration and plea. And there really was nothing they could have done for her, other than shoot her in the head, given her wounds and their lack of a fully-equipped trauma medical facility or really powerful healing magic.
Very well done, especially the discussion Dim and Blackbird have about it later, and the way in which you show Blackbird bouncing back from her depression at the end.

A gutshot pregnant female is just a bad scene all around.
I sure hope this doesn't doom the Hippogriffs :(
Don't you love how "It's for The Cause" can be applied indiscriminately to excuse away any wrong?
Abducting and raping? Don't worry, it's for the best.
I pity the lot of them. But only a little.

Speaking from a purely logical, analytical viewpoint, it's how your ancestors and mine got started. When fighting to protect or begin a species, all bets are off. It doesn't make what they're doing right, but the point is that right and wrong don't matter to/for them until later, when they're a real species that can then settle down safely, protect its own interests, and apply morality and ethics like every other species that's been established and already gone through this process. They wagered their lives for a future for their people, and lost. This is the way of things. They died not because they were somehow greater villains than Grogar, but because they were weaker.
The ponies, and numerous others, were created by the centaurs, so as a species they didn't have to start this way. But, this is also how many communities start, and even how many continue to survive because without it they might not. A couple of other Weedverse stories point out that this is the case in some of the overlooked and on-their-own places in Equestria. It's a bad scene, but if they won't do what it takes to survive they don't deserve to survive. The evils they commit now will be judged by the nation their offspring will help create. Just like how we humans look back on ancient cultures and despise them for things that were totally normal to them which everyone went through that modern ethics says are reprehensible and disgusting.

This has a point, but as a counterpoint, they are acting in an already established society, and should know better, (a social stigma as a speciesist commune is better than stigma as rapist bandits) and additionally, as a species, Hippogriffs aren't going anywhere, unless griffons and ponies both go extinct first.

I don't think you can doom them as a species, since they're fertile hybrids of two established species that live together in various places.
Ain't much fancy about this Fancy Campaign, it's rather grungy, which ultimately feels appropriate.
The wine is gone? Why is the wine gone?

"It got shot."
Oh. That's why.
