Burn The World
Let's go, Dim <3
TROGDOOOOORRRRRR
Verbrenne die Welt!
If fire isn't solving your problems then you just haven't used enough!!

Agreed. Can't wait for THAT slogan to reach canterlot.
I had a strange thought.
What if the darkness provided some corrupted form of healing?

It does, in a sense. Necromancy and the artificial continuation of life after death. See, lichdom.
That wording just gives me the creeps. It isn't bring warmth to the world or light to the world but burn it. Burning has an undertone of destruction to it and it is aimed at everything and her definition of what is wicked is not well defined. She seems benevolt enough but she makes me very uneasy. And the bit about putting a bit of her essence in each of her followers gives me a feel of something like Groger and makes me wonder if it will alter their minds over time. She clearly hates Groger and what he represents and is opposed to him as a result but that doesn't mean she isn't someone that Equestria would find threatening in the absence of Groger.

Sometimes the world needs a little burning. Sometimes things grow beyond prying eyes, dark and twisted things that choke the life around them and poison the land, but fire is the great purifier, purging the land of twisted growth and leaving the soil rich for those that come after. A little fire can be good for the soul.

Forest fires are beneficial and necessary for the cycle of life.
The issue with "Burn the World" is: Fire, while purifying and a much needed force on their world right now, is also indiscriminate. It burns all, innocent and wicked alike, destroying everything that came before and clearing the ground for new growth.
Maybe the Hearthfire/Chantico's Fires don't harm the innocent, but fire itself, while able to purge the rot, also destroys the host in doing so.

This is true.
That said, faith can also be described as a fire... a metaphorical force.
8476075
That almost makes sound like the flames of a phoenix.
“Burn the world”
Burn the world

Using a term like faith when describing the intentions of a goddess is not exactly something that calms fears. I am not saying she is deliberately malevolent in any way but still wonder if her definition of wicked encompasses much more than say the alicorns of Equestria might feel.......she has been gone a long time and there is no telling what her morals or long term motivations might be. You are the author so you can of course just decide there is nothing to be afraid of but if I was part of this world and hearing of this I would be suspicious and extremely at ill ease about any long forgotten god suddenly taking followers again and encouraging them to "burn the world"
8476152
And you'd be right.
“Cleansing fire heal and purge. By my faith, the world shall burn”
I’m curious just how big a thing Chantico becomes. So far little evidence is given how large she gets, but then again it took a (very) long while for us to see the size of the Druids and Terra.

All silliness aside, The Nameless One would not have allowed Chantico to be revived if she posed a danger to the world.
There is something AMAZING with the reverence in which they speak "Burn The World"!
Not only that, but I have the feeling that the Captain will more than get his money's worth during his little trip with Dim! >=)

Hence why Chantico took the time in the astral realms to begin to familiarize herself with the modern world. Of note was her reaching far and deep enough to recognize Terra revived and divvying her essence among her followers, the druids - also recently awoken. Kudzu actually had her come out and admit her own feelings and thoughts on the modern world she awoke to. I'd say she's making the right calls. And remember - destruction is a part of the natural cycle.
Burn it all!

And on the other hand Pale and the others not only allowed it, they enabled it, so it must align with their designs.
In Florida we have fires all the time. They burn the deadwood and undergrowth so the strong trees can survive. If fire happens regularly the animals can hide and return almost immediately once the fire has swept by. The black scortching to remind you of the fire lingers for a few years, but other than reminding everyone of the fire, the scars rwally don’t harm the environment.
Build a pony a fire and he is warm for the night.
Set a pony on fire and he is warm for the rest of his life.
There's something dreadfully fascinating about children with that kind of devotion.
How does the saying go?
See your ambitions aflame and the world will come and watch you burn

Burn the world!
Now there's an idea to limit Grogar's potential followers and raise some capital at the same time. 'Hire' all the unscrupulous mercenaries, bandits and/or bounty hunters that'll take the bait to go after Dim...then sell tickets to watch. Could even charge extra for sunglasses rental.
Very enjoyable chapter! A nice change of pace from the previous chapters. not that I have mind the last few chapters.
Chantico reminds me of Sekhmet and I'm starting to really understand and identify with Dim...Not sure how I feel about that lol

Earth around volcanos is one of the most fertile on this planet, so...
So much win in this chapter
