I have no heart and my avatar makes everything sound sexual. Also, It's pronounced "sam-ee".

Thanks :pinkiehappy:

Wow...just...wow...
Kinda surprised at Octavia's lack of reaction to find the dead body of Vinyl.
This was dark and I found it somewhat depressing somehow...excellent work!

Thanks

While brainstorming that part with Octavia I decided to go with initial shock/denial rather than panic. I think she's a kind of pony who suffers in silence.

3921305 I rally enjoyed the ending segment where Vinyl passed and Octavia saw her lifeless body. found that really enjoyable

no just no:ajbemused:
that was one of the worst stories I had ever read in my entire life

Excellent job on the story line. Making Vinyl evil is definitely a new one on me. Some parts were a little too long on the description though. Not to mention Vinyl x Octivia is a overused idea. Still, short and good, just the way I like it.

Thanks :pinkiehappy:
I was trying to make a story without any dialogue, so description was all I had... (hmm, my first fics tended to be dialogue-heavy. Probably a sign of my my style developing or something).

Hmm, I'm actually a bit tired of this ship myself, but it just fits that story...

The whole sound ocean thing kinda confused me I liked it tho

Suddenly, she thought of the old legends, and a chill ran down her spine.

Care to expand on this? The story was really intriguing, but I'm unfamiliar with the "legends" you speak of, and therefor confused at the conclusion.

Beyond that, very chilling. I like it.

According to a New England legend, whip-poor-wills can sense the soul of a dying person and catch it when a person dies (if they manage to do so, their singing starts to resemble laughter, but if they fail, they go silent). It's probably most well-known from the story "The Dunwich Horror" by H.P. Lovecraft.

And you can imagine my reaction when a character called Zipporwhill was introduced...

"I used to make tape loops of grinding metal, a baby crying, slowed down, low-frequency synth noise, distorted screams, etc., and I'd put, say, a half-hour of each of these loops on its own cassette. Then, in the rehearsal space I had on 6th Street in NYC, I'd give each cassette its own tape player and hook each tape player up to its own SVT bass set-up, with the amps arranged in a circle, pointing inward, and I'd play the tapes at full volume, with me standing in the middle of it as the loops bombarded me. It felt great!"

Wow, I need to get on reading that Lovecraft stuff. Been meaning to for a while.

Thanks :pinkiehappy: It's fixed now. I also added the explanation in the notes.

I'm actually kinda surprised that someone recommends my stories... :derpyderp1:

Well, at first I wanted to give some more details about what happened (for example in the first version the name of the filly was mentioned), but I think implied gore works better.

And what did you find on your way to the fridge? :ajsmug:

I like that interpretation  My mostly rational explanation was that she had a brain tumour which caused hallucinations and changes in her behaviour (such as thinking that killing fillies is a good idea) and the things you've mentioned triggered a stroke/heart attack which killed her.

That was a good one. I also kinda expected the story to be about the dark acts themselves, but I like the way it was done here.

Also, a brain tumor makes a lot of sense. Those have made some people act pretty weird indeed.

Yeah, though it depends of the location. For example, my sister's friend had one next to his pituitary gland. Even after he had it removed, he's slightly feminine... (also, he just loves talking about his ilnesses, even when the others don't want to hear about them. For example, I didn't want to know that he had diabetes insipidus once and peed 5 litres a day...)

Vinyl most likely had frontal lobe disorder (short attention span, depression, difficulty in understanding others' points of view, Inappropriate aggression and sexual behaviour). Though I didn't have that in mind when I was writing.

Excellent ! wonder what octavia will do with the recording?

5005146
Well, I guess she may try to publish it assuming that she survives listening to it – I think this recording may be like a casette from Ring...

I read this story and have the weirdest mix of feelings about it first being sadness I always liked Vinyl Then theirs inspiration as so many ideas started chewing into me to the point where I added a subplot to the story board for the story I am planning. Then theirs the rather disturbing effect of excitement I find my self wanting to follow her into that place of sound, madness, and depravity its quite interesting really. So all in all excellent story thank you kindly for writing it and it now has a favorite thumbs up and has been added to my top favorites list as number five it may climb higher not sure yet. :scootangel:

Man this is the only mlp story I read that remotely references Psy-Trance without giving in too much details. I just friggin' love the way she died, from brain tumor and all, dead drenching in yer favouite music is honestly something magical.

Sequel?

8207491
I'm not sure if I'd call that magical, but I guess that if she could choose her death, it'd be something like this.

That was fucking fantastic. Vinyl and Peter Sotos would get along well.

9609413
I guess that'd be an interesting experience...
