GOOOOOOOOOD! Now I just need to bother you until you get the next chapter out!
2899324 Haha, I expect nothing less!
Anyways, 0200 means sleepy time for me. So no more writing tonight! .... erm... I mean... ...
Maybe tomorrow...
2899355 Wilco!
Yay! Moar!
hey i have to ask wean he going to tell them about snipers?
2899842 I see what you're saying, and I initially thought of that myself, but it was basically a first contact scenario. The man had injuries, and instead of sitting back and examining him, the ponies tried to help. The fact that he was wearing clothing probably would've been picked up on if there were more humans around at the time, but it must've been lost in all the stress and excitement at the time.
Well, for all they know, there could've been more humans hiding off in some faraway land, and he was sent to spy on everyone else. As for randomly appearing, perhaps his cloaking device failed? Because if you have the technology to make a giant chunk of metal fly, you can most certainly make it disappear, right?
2899903 Well, I thank you for your service!
As for the office... Yeah, might've gone a wee bit overboard with that, but I have plans to revamp a few things, including the rank system. I also wanted there to be a little bit of "My office, my rules" going on, and for Shining to let him know who is in charge. What better way to do that than yelling, eh? Granted, it probably could've been done without it, but whatever, it's Equestria, and he's the new guy.
2899936 Well said. Gonna have to disagree with a few things though. Effective range for an AGM-65 is 3-8km, and it's maximum operational range is around 22km, but that's not to say it can't go farther. I guess, under the proper circumstances, it could happen, but I doubt the missile would be very effective. And depending on the variant, the warhead could either be a 57kg shape-charge, or a 136kg penetrating blast-fragmentation warhead.

Well... considering the fact that I got the information about the common weapons configurations that it mounts directly from the airforce technology article on it I suppose I could be wrong here? I notice that the Wikipedia article on it says about 22 km... but here's the thing; those ranges are usually fudged low by up to x1.5 because the ACTUAL operational ranges or speeds of our equipment is usually classified. That's why you always see operational ranges or maximum speeds listed as "about", or "nearly". Now, I'm not saying the airforce technology article is correct, because I don't know what their primary source is, and 45 km does sound a bit excessive to me, when compared to the wiki article, but I'll bet you the actual operational range is somewhere between those two figures.
2901931 Makes sense to me, I wouldn't put sensitive military information on the internet for my enemy to see. Less than 45, but more than 22. Works for me.
I don't always run around with a stick up my butt, but when I do, it's not over silly arguments about technical specifications for weapon systems
wow he is completly useless
I could make several statements about the weaponry that has been showcased(and demonstrated in the case of the 2000 pounder.) but the simple fact is, this really isn't the place for exact specifications of certain weapons.. Especially the AGMs that I saw you mentioned, and I will agree, more than 22 but less than 45. Anyway, I can't wait until the A-10 'Warthog' is operational again if its possible to fix the damn thing with the way it was shredded up, most planes that get FUBARed like that are scrapped and the materials recycled for newer aircraft, the funny thing about the A-10 though is that if they can repair it, even if they can't fix the torn up engine, the other engine will still provide ample thrust and power to fly it... With the unfortunate side effect of being unable to fire the Avenger because both engines are needed to properly stabilize and fire it. A-10's are designed to take a beating and keep on swinging.

I agree and disagree.
I agree because there is no real need to know every little detail about all the weapons, unless I think it adds to the story. Even then, I will only include the bits that I deem relevant and noteworthy. Plus, if you really wanted to know the specs, there's this thing called Google.
I disagree because all of the ordinance, armaments, and aircraft I have used (so far...), are real and already have predefined specs. If I didn't stick to those specs, or within a close margin, then people would get butthurt. And you probably know that people who are butthurt won't hesitate to let you know that they're butthurt. When it comes to the point where magical armaments are integrated (and you all will be helping with that ), I won't really care if people get butthurt, because you guys had a say in their creation. Spoiler alert?
In the end, however, if the readers are happy, then I'm happy. I will gladly spend a few hours (depending on the time-of-day) debating specs, or anything else story-related, if it will make everyone happy. If a compromise can be made, I'm all for it. If not, I'll try to accommodate as best I can.
As for fixing up the 'Hog... Getting close
2910750 Hehe, I agree!
Just about everyone in the comments is arguing military shit. Am I the only one who knows fuckall about military fuckery and just wants to enjoy a decent HiE?
2921655 Welcome to the internet!
2923711 I might not be as harsh as that, but I will put some rules and guidelines in place when the time comes. I don't want to give too much away, but I do plan on keeping most of the important human tech under wraps.
In the mean time, I'm going to be "that guy", and tell you that you'll just have to wait and see what happens!
2923769 I like them, but they're not everyone's cup of tea.
Personally, I'd take an MRE over any fast food restaurant.
However, don't eat the cheese spread without the crackers. That stuff'll plug you up like nobody's business.
2922904 Dude, I've been on the internet for over seven years. I have literally SWAM through the weirdest part of the net, including the most "What In The Actual FUCK" worthy of porn and hentai. It is FAR too late to welcome me.
2927227 Heh, well, better late than never I suppose.
Reminds me of my brief visit to 4chan...
2928406 You're lucky. You were only briefly tainted by it. I was saturated in it. Marinated almost.
2928738 Sometimes I wonder how/where people come up with that stuff. Kinda makes you wonder what else is out there... actually, no, I don't want to know.
This was a good chapter. I look forward to the next one!

2928796 Heh. Heh. Heh.
I did notice that in season 3 episode 7 the Wonderbolts Academy, there is a paved runway. Just saying.
2929734 Yep, but it looks waaaay too short to support any fixed wing aircraft, other than STOVL or VTOL aircraft.
Needless to say, I have already planned for this, and have a workaround in place.
2929777 Well, runway or no runway (no we'll still need a runway) the A-10 must fly again.
And I'm getting a bad feeling that if the Griffon Kingdom discovers that Princess Celestia/Luna has acquired a weapon that could level their kingdom overnight, they would try and prevent that from happening (by force). As for an idea on what will come through the Gate next, some kind of naval ship be it a Ticonderoga Class cruiser, Arleigh-Burke Class destroyer, or a Nuclear-powered Nimitz Class aircraft carrier. Just my ideas.
2929945 I will not confirm or deny anything.
It appears the Reasoning is strong with this one.
Apparently bullets wont shot trough manticores bones but a claymore can.
2945192 The bullets couldn't penetrate the Manticore's skull. The slash from the claymore wasn't directed at the skull, but the neck.
Nevertheless, I'll probably put in something to make that more feasible.
2947031 What about eyes? Atleast one shot must have go trough the manticore's eyes. I'm 100% sure manticores don't have bulletproof eyes.
2949846 They're not. However, if Manticore craniums are similar to that of a lion, then the eyes are situated closer to the sides of the skull, with the brain being (almost quite literally) in between. Even then, there is still a layer of bone between the eyes and brain-cavity. So, any bullets that penetrate the eyes would just leave the Manticore blinded and extremely pissed off, as well as in a pretty decent amount of pain. Something similar happened to the Market Manticore in the previous chapter.
2991892 Tough I still think that bullets would penetrate the manticore's skull.

i disliking it until it updates

true but hes in another dimension
Hey bro, don't get me wrong-this story is great!-I just think you should rename some of your chapters; to many 'The's'...
I was never here...
3049520 Eh, maybe. I just have issues with naming stuff. It's easier to make a "The" name than it is to come up with a clever one. I've got a few ideas rolling around for future chapters though, so not all of them will be "The" chapters.
It's strange, I can think up a steam-powered, griffon-operated anti-everything super weapon and come up with all the technical specifications in less than four minutes, but ask me to name it and I'll be sitting there for at least an hour. Same goes for chapter titles.
...
...
Wait...
...
Shit. Probably shouldn't have said that. Oops.
2616906
me either due to lack of updates
3072079 Honestly, I don't blame you one bit. It seems as if fate is set against me updating this story.
I was cleaning the deck of my mower the other day and I stepped into a patch of chiggers. Needless to say, the past few days have been absolutely miserable and I'm running on 6 hours of sleep in the past 60+. Combine that with the internet being down 23 hrs a day, work, and other random life crap, I've had about -5 hrs of writing time over the weekend.
As of right now, the writing for the next chapter is finished (for the most part) and I'm currently editing. So, it should be up either tonight or tomorrow.
I promise you all, once semester starts in two weeks, the updates will speed up. I do realize it's been a month since the last one, but I hope you can hang on for just a bit longer.
Seems he needs to bring in the heavier ordinance now too.
Should have worn his flight suit at least its fire proof...
